5.0 out of 5 stars.  very spacious, June 10, 2009
By Malu (Virginia, USA)
I was looking for bags that were spacious enough for me to go to the grocery store and also to carry miscellaneous stuff like clothes, shoes... and this one is just perfect. It measures 12" long, 10" wide and 7" deep. It has a handle for carrying it and is easy to strap it to the rack. However, I leave it on all the time.
It works well with the "Ventura Universal Bicycle carrier rack" (my bike tires are 26 inch.)

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Um... what?, March 9, 2009
By A. Walker
The Good Stuff:

- Lots of room
- Plastic inserts give these bags a rigid construction
- Center Handle for easy carrying
- Adjustable straps for quickly attaching to a bike rack
- They are cheap!

The Bad Stuff:

- These bags would not survive even one crash
- The side straps don't adjust wide enough to allow the clasps the right angle to stay tight. They quickly release in a headwind making the bags (if empty) flap like wings behind your bike.
- If you don't have the right kind of rack, one with an open horizontal bar for the center strap... dunno how you'd attach these bags otherwise.

These would work for some folks, but not for me. I'm returning mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Delight for shopping, October 24, 2010
By Louise L. Sherman (Leonia, NJ)
I have had many pannier bags but these are the best for grocery shopping and ease of use. They go on easily and the connections are quick making it not a chore to take them off and on as it is with many other panniers. A good size grocery bag can fit in each side. These would not be a choice for a trek across a continent as they are more carrier than luggage and they stick out on each side so getting the bike in a crowded area can be a challenge but they are the best I've had for practical day to day shopping and carrying and one doesn't hesitate to slip them off filled to carry in groceries since it is so easy. They also seem pretty water resistant - I use mine in England where they often sit out in the rain. I am about to order my second set as I have bikes in different locations but thought I'd review them first.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap but effective, February 12, 2010
By Corravoo (Virginia)
I bike to work and there are some days I need to carry more than I can squeeze into my small trunk bag. These work pretty well but the lower attachments require you to thread and loop a buckle - I think spring loaded are better. The cheap part came when I was putting the plastic stiffeners into the bags - the fit is really tight and when I was putting one in I tore the "mounting flaps". The bags still works fine so no need to return it.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Not Sturdy, August 25, 2010
By LynnM
This pannier looks very nice and is very spacious. I've been using for the last 2 weeks for commuting to work. Unfortunately, it has not lasted very long. One brush with the spokes, as sometimes happens when I go over bumps, and the fabric along the seams tore completely apart, rendering the pannier useless. The "66D Tearproof fabric" didn't prove to be very tearproof. I think that something that is used so routinely needs to be more sturdy.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A DEFINITE "BUY" ITEM, February 3, 2011
By bambooflutestore
I use my bike for commuting, exercise and weekend camp trips. These bags handle all of that. I haven't climbed Mt. Everest with them but they haven't failed in the 8 months I've had them. I have fairly lightweight gear (base weight is 15 pounds minus food and water) which is perfect for weekend trips. I'm planning a longer excursion but that will have to wait for vacation time.

These bags are easy to use, easy to put together, (relatively) easy to take on and off (we're talking 2 minutes), and I've never had any problems with the workmanship (stitching, buckles, straps, handles). They're waterproof in light rain (I live in Southern California). For heavy weather, I'd get (or make) a plastic cover.

I lay my bike down on a regular basis - no issues.

I love the design! Easy to get in and out of. I don't think I'd ever need more storage room but, then again, I've always traveled light.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  They will flap into your wheel and bend your spokes, March 2, 2010
By rubberbandito (San Diego, CA USA)
Be careful with these. The rear will flap and bend into your rear wheel. If for example you put a chain in there, it bends the whole thing down and can cause it to go into wheel. Sending them back. They caused me wheel to go untrue.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  invest in higher quality, September 29, 2011
By deepemptypokckets
I bought these panniers.... Strapping them on was easy and quick so I was on my way to work. Not more than 10 minutes into my ride the constant motions loosens the straps and the side panels swung against the spokes ripping the entire bag open. I had to pull the panniers forward in an awkward position as they hit my feet when pedaling. I was horrified by their shoddy construction.... I got replacements and only use them if im going to the market for a few items..

4.0 out of 5 stars.  You get what you pay for, September 28, 2011
By W. Barley
I purchased these bags alongside the Topeak Explorer Bike Rack with Spring. I had never used saddle bags before but was eager to try them out to increase my carrying capacity. Having read the reviews for this product, I had a pretty decent idea for what I was getting: an affordable set of bags that are not the finest construction, but will still get the job done.

Good:
*Contrary to some of the reviews, I find the bags to be easy to attach/detach from the rack.
*The clips secure the bag well enough that I am not worried about them falling off in transit on my 6 mile commute.
*These bags are great for grocery shopping! I can fit about a weeks worth of groceries for myself in them. The best part is that I can bring them into the store and load them at the checkout.
*For the price, I am not dissatisfied with the material and construction.

Bad:
*I haven't found any great way to secure the excess straps for the clips, and sometimes have to stop when they come free and start flipping in my spokes (kind of like a baseball card).
*The bags have a tendency to become misshapen if you put awkward items in them. I commute with a laptop that is just a little to big. To fit it into the bag I have to stretch it out a bit. This stretching led to the bag itself getting caught in my spokes once, slightly ripping the fabric.
*They are a little heavy and awkward when carrying them in places.

Bottom Line: Get these bags if you are a casual commuter, but be prepared for what they are. They have a great price, but you sacrifice a little on quality. Don't try to over-stuff them, however, and they should function very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Can not beat it! gave it a 10, June 2, 2011
By edsi
I bought these after reading that 2, 1 gallon milk containers would fit in each pouch. We were getting ready for a family bike ride along the PA Grand Canyon bike trail. I had to pack a first aid kit, light sweatshirts, food, drinks, tools, you get the picture. I had to pack for two kids, my wife and myself. Yes two 1 gallon containers fit, and if you don't think that is enough, I packed for the entire family for a 20 mile leisure bike ride. These things are huge, bigger than any other bags we saw on the ride. As far as quality, the backing is stiff enough not fall into your spokes, but then I also had an electric bike with a battery pack on the back of the bike. Straps are strong, though I used additional tie wraps in a few places. Thats just me, I could write a book of how to use tie wraps. On a scale of 10, I rate it a ten, no faults. Hey I only paid around 25 bucks on Amazon, so how can you find fault with it? Worked great, and I look forward to more bike trips, and yes your 17 inch laptop will fit in, though I would never subject my laptop to a bike ride. Happy Biking!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Mixed quality, March 3, 2010
By Brew dude (United States)
The price is hard to beat on this product, but the quality is mixed. The fabric and general construction is quite good for the price, and I have not had any issues with seams or ripping fabric. The plastic sheets supporting the shape are hard to put in, and feel and look flimsy. I have had two of the plastic clips that close the panniers break, both from a simple tipping over of the bike. One of the other reviewers is absolutely correct in noting that these would not survive even a modest crash. The strapping to hold the panniers to the rack are not universal for all racks, but few are, and they are flexible and long enough to get it to work on a less than perfectly matched rack. The lightweight construction and somewhat flimsy construction do allow it to bang around in the wind while riding, which is a bit annoying. In short, the value is quite high in that they basically work and are very cheap, but it comes with some significant deficiencies compared to more expensive models. I keep these on my winter commuter mostly to hold my lunch and a repair kit, and cart back the occasional bag of groceries, and they do just fine, even with the broken clasps. I would never recommend these for even light touring.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Easy to use and handy, January 12, 2012
By Tikirocks
After being in a bike store and seeing that a metal pannier would cost about $50.00. I came to see here. It is perfect for school because it is soft inside for having a laptop, you can use to go to the store, as a student it have come very hanndy and with a very low cost. You can even take away the pieces of plastic in the bottom to shrink it.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Bad design. Caught in Spokes. Avoid!!!, October 20, 2011

It keeps getting caught in the spokes. It has peculiar attachments using clip-clamps that will reliably get tangled in the spokes. It is a curious blend of clever and really stupid design. Avoid if you value your sanity.

Big Bike Bags

These are nice quality bags. I didn't keep them because they are so big. If you aren't going on a serious trip where you are carrying lots of cargo, opt for something else. Additionally, the way they attach to the bike worried me. I felt like the "ties" at the bottom that held the bag against the bike would be easily caught in the spokes or the tire if it came loose. I asked the guy at the bike shop if I was missing something. He agreed that he thought it could be risky and could cause ripped out spokes. So, size and attaching mode made me send these back.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for what I needed, at a price I could pay, May 19, 2012
By David
These panniers are easy to attach to my new rack, they stay put without swaying in such a way as to hit the spokes, and they ride high enough, with their curved front-facing side, that I don't have problems heel-striking the bags while I pedal.

They will eat two full plastic grocery bags without any trouble. The color of the pannier flaps I received were grey instead of the light blue shown here, but as long as it isn't hot pink or paisley, I'm not about to care! ;) With these panniers deployed on my rack, the top area is just about perfect for carrying a pizza stably, as well. The mesh pockets in the back work for carrying my emergency tool bag and spare inner tubes.

The bags are a bit heavier than I expected, due to the plastic stiffeners, but I'll take that tradeoff in return for an inexpensive way to haul a fair amount of stuff with ease.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great pannier!, May 13, 2012
By Charlie1104
Great bags! I also like the handle on top that allows you to pick it up off the bike for easy carrying into the office, home, etc. The only negative is that I had to trim a bit off the width of the rigid plastic inserts (4) that come with it. As delivered, I found it almost impossible to fit it into the sleeves that hold them in place inside the bags. A little trim with regular scissors and they fit right in and keep the bags nice and rigid. I would definitely recommend this pannier!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Shockingly useful for the price, May 7, 2012
By Jesse Friedman (Brooklyn, NY, USA)
I've owned these panniers for eight months now, and already feel like I've gotten my money's worth. They're ideal for grocery shopping: each side fits a standard-size tote bag, and I've managed to haul enough groceries to cook dinner for ten. I've also discovered that you can fit a 12-pack of most shortneck (i.e., standard size) beers in each one. I often keep my helmet in there when I'm parked, and my lock and waterbottle while riding. The elastic pouches are thoughtful but not really useful: if you put anything in there you'd hit your heels when pedaling.

This pannier is not built to be easily released; it took a good while for me to get all the straps adjusted right, and not interfering with the spokes of the wheel. So I just keep it attached whether or not I'm using it; when it's empty it looks a bit schlumpy, but whatever, I bike to get around and not to be fashionable.

It's holding up strong and I'll be happy if I get another year's worth out of it. I'm not terribly confident the material will hold up forever, though I don't see any wear or ripping even after dozens of uses.

One downside is that while I can stuff my backpack with a 13-inch laptop in there, it's awkward and bulgy and my heel hits against it a bit when I'm pedaling. If you're looking for something to cram a backpack in for regular commuting, you ought to either have a small backpack or look for another solution.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  It's OK, May 5, 2012
By Martin J. Coady (Mexico)
I bought these so I could run little errands to the store and such without having to balance purchases on the handle bars or wear a backpack. They are adequate for my needs. The fit the bike rack, but it would hardly qualify as a custom fit or even the appearance of a custom fit. I have yet to carry more than 10 pounds or so of stuff so I don't know how they will feel with a full load. They came with what I suppose are intended as inserts (not mentioned in the instructions), which I cannot figure out how to use. There are four of them and they exceed the dimensions of every panel of the bags. I could cut them down I suppose but there are no pockets to slide them into so I have no idea how I would keep them in place. The bags meet my needs as soft-sided saddlebags so I don't really care. In short, these are cheaply constructed (Chinese) bags but they meet my minimal needs. I think them a bit pricey for what you get. If your needs are more robust, you might consider purchasing something a bit more expensive that is of better quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Holy Cow these Bags are Big!, March 20, 2012
By Jordan
I just started commuting to work and decided to go with these panniers. I wasn't sure what to look for, but I knew I needed room. These things are HUGE! The plastic inserts are difficult at first, but after 5 minutes to put the first one in I was able to get the others no problem. I'm a little concerned that the handle won't last long. The material seems thin and I can see it ripping if you put too much in the bags. Post more later...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Worth it!, June 16, 2011
By Flash
The quality of these bags is surprisingly good. It is a bit of a pain putting the stiffeners in, but the bags work well without them, which makes it easier to get your bike in and out of narrow spaces or around corners. I put a full grocery sack in each side, about 30 pounds and everything was good. As to flapping straps, mine do flap but there is no way they would jam the rear wheel---I simply paperclipped the excess to the strap. Or you can cut them shorter. The only improvement would be reflectors on the sides of the panniers. Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Disappointed, June 5, 2011
By Alyo
After two weeks of use, one of the bags caught in my spokes on the way home from a shopping trip. Other posters who've noted the lack of durability on these bags are exactly right: a single encounter with my spokes tore the bag open at two seams and rendered all but unusable. I'll be looking for a new bag setup in the future, and I won't be buying this model again.

This product succeeds its expectations. Extremely satisfied. Very sturdy and well made product. Was a bit difficult to get the plastic pieces into the sides of the bag, did not know where the plastic pieces went at first till I figured it out, no directions included to guide you through. Overall, great product. Would encourage those looking for a great product and great price to buy this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not bad, if you don't need much, February 12, 2011
By T
I bought these in July and by December there was a decent sized rip on one of them. They're not very durable, they don't have space for a 15" laptop whether it's in a padded sleeve or not, and they flap around and into the wheel if you don't have a rack with a third brace towards the back. The holes at the top for the rack spring to slide through and hold it down looked worn almost right away... Just not very good. That said, they're not very expensive so if you just need something for rare use, these might be the trick. As a daily commuter, just not good enough.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Pretty good for the price, November 9, 2010
By Frank
Upon receipt of the panniers, I went on a four day biking and camping trip. For the price, the panniers are pretty good. One improvement that can be made and is lacking on these panniers is a way to tighten the cover. The way it is made, you can not pull down and tighen the pannier. It has a buckle with a fixed length of strap. As a result, I lost a $60 shirt during my trip. While I should have placed the article more securely in the pannier, if it had a strap that could tighten, it wouldn't happen. As stated above, for the price they are pretty good. I plan to replace them in the future but for now, they will get me by.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Best Paniers, October 24, 2010
By Judy Wilton (VANCOUVER, WA, US)
I was genuinely surprised at the quality of these paniers. The local, expensive bicycle store carries $56.00 paniers that are not half the quality. They sit well on the rack, they hold tightly, and they carry a lot of miscellaneous stuff!

Well done M-Wave!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good for the price, October 8, 2010
By Mitsurugi
I put these on my bike that I use for going to and from work in case I need to make a quick stop at the grocery store on the way home. These bags are quite roomy, holding a little more than what you can fit in a grocery store handbasket (one reviewer here said it holds about 4 gallon-sized milk cartons, which is about right). So for what I got them for, they work. The expander panels they give you to make it look as it does in the photo are relatively easy to put in place, as well.

However, it does have it's problems, as well. When I first tried to attach it to my bike rack, the stitching that held the straps onto the bag ripped. The straps were fine, but it seems like even the slightest tug will loosen the stitching. I've sewn the straps back on myself, but just be aware of that. The other thing I don't like is the clips that attach the panniers to the base of the rack frame. These do not stay on tightly, and I've since removed them because they hit the spokes of my rear wheel, and I'm afraid one day they'd get stuck in the spokes and I'd be eating asphalt.

So, if you're willing to make a few quick alterations to this bag, it will work for the casual biker. It's not something I'd use on a long-distance recreational bike trip, but if I were to go back in time and do it all over again, I'd still buy these. They do what I need them to do, and for the price, I'm not complaining.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Get something else if you want to take your bag on and off frequently, September 18, 2010
By Guido D Killerpimp (Chicago Burbs, IL USA)
large compartments; that do not collapse down...this actually makes the bag not the best for keeping on on all the time because it makes you less aerodynamic loaded or unloaded.

Does not quick bungee strap to the feet of the rack; it is an awkward buckle strap.
the securing strap for the top is the same buckle snap strap that does not work well.

If you want to take the bag on and off frequently then get something else.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Gets the job done, September 10, 2010

Easy to put on rack but make sure you have side supports or bag will go into wheel. Holds a couple of days of groceries even two gallons of milk in one side. Have also used then for long bike trips full of a weeks clothing. You do have to be careful about placement on rack. One or two inches forward and your hitting them with your heals as you pedal. They sometimes will get caught in rear wheel when pushing bike backward.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Pannier, April 16, 2010

Good quality for the price. Saved me at least 20% compared to local retail stores. Exceeds expectations as I continue to use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  M-Wave Bicycle Panniers (Saddlebags), February 1, 2010
By Mickey Parker (Las Vegas, Nevada, USA)
Unbelievable! Easily worth four times the price. I've been a private bicycle courier for over 30 years, and have tried every conceivable method of carrying books, papers, groceries - along with a lock, spares, light jacket, etc. - and nothing ever came close to the convenience, appearance and capacity of these panniers.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Not bad for the money, August 18, 2011
By Bill
Not a bad saddle bag setup, by no means ready for a tour, but very good for going to the grocery store. Do use caution if you have to remove and reinstall bags often or ever day as the buckles to get a bit weak after being in the elements. Overall a good bag for light use.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I like it!, September 6, 2011
By mlz84
it came with four plastic inserts to make it sturdier. they didn't fit properly so i cut them out and now they fit perfect. *if you want to know how i did it let me know

it's pretty big. total width (mounted on MY rack): 20 inches, length: 13.5 inches, height: 11.5 inches. each pannier is 6.5 inches wide

each pannier has a reflector.

if your rack has a spring, you can still use it by putting the spring through one on the two holes (depending on how far forward or back you need to put the bag)

i haven't used it yet i'll post an update in about a month

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Serious bag., August 30, 2011
By Mike (Virginia)
This bag is really great. It's a little bigger than I was expecting. It seems pretty light and it can carry just about anything you might need -- and then some. You have to watch the connecting straps to make sure they don't catch in the spokes, but it's easy to tie them back. I plan on using it for groceries and the occasional 12 miles commute to work. This is a great bag for a great value.

By Jarrel Burns (jacksonville, fla)
i just received my panniers. they arrived promptly and as promised. the only issue i had was when i put the bags on my rack, one of the side buckles broke through where the strap goes. no big deal as i plan to replace with Velcro straps

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great for me, February 9, 2012
By Rick Jazzman
I have been using these M-Wave panniers for the last seven months on a steady basis. So far they have been awesome. I have carried a ridiculous amount of groceries in these with no problems as far as tearing or anything else on an almost weekly basis. I have the panniers mounted on a Topeak Explorer rack on a mountain bike with just the attached straps for weeks at a time and steady riding with no problems of them getting into the spokes, coming loose, needing adjustment or flapping around. Two gallon size jugs in each bag, no problem. As far as a ridiculous load, at one point, both bags were full of groceries milk jugs and all along with a full duffle bag of groceries bungeed across the flat top of the panniers. I got carried away! With me on the bike, the rear tire looked as though it was almost flat and yes my tire pressures were right. All told using a little common sense and not abusing these M-Wave panniers they work great and have proven to be very strong and capable. As you can tell I am very happy with my purchase and would purchase this pannier again if I needed to!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  so far so good, September 27, 2011
By college biker
Got this as an early birthday present form my dad, had it about a month now and it has held up quiet well.
Plenty of space for my books so there not on my back which was why I asked for it in the first place.
A plus was the handle on top so I can just pack it full of what I need then when I go to school I just unhook it and go.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good bag for a good price, May 22, 2012
By kongman
This bag fits my needs perfectly. It strapped onto my rack easily (i added some bungee cords for extra support). The plastic inserts do not fit in the bags so they will need to be trimmed down. I guess the manufacturer did that to cut costs. Overall it's a nice bag and seems like it will last a while.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Ripped so easily, May 4, 2012
By Philip J. Ives (Philadelphia, PA United States)
On my second ride the bag somehow flipped into my rear tire and I immediately stopped. I noticed a quarter size hole. I would expect it to hold up a bit better than that.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good value, may require modification., April 13, 2012
By L. Delancey (IL USA)
These bags are good value for money, however I am still working out some fitment issues. I have the planet bike eco-rack and I guess it must be the geometry of the bike but this bag got caught up in my spokes the other day. I had a u-lock in one of the pockets and its bent the compartment a bit and caused the edge to hit the spokes, tearing up the bottom corner pretty badly. Not the fault of workmanship but it made me realize that there is really good way to secure this thing to the rack. It has buckles to go around the side-posts of the rack but I feel they could have come up with something better. I now have bungee cord wrapped around the rack and bag in such a way that it keeps the bag from coming close to the spokes. You can fit a good amount of groceries in this bagset, you can even fit an average sized bag backpack in one side, which is what I have been using it for. Does the job.
