Cheap ,Sturdy and Light Mt. Bike Cover, March 2, 2010
By Jim S. Royer (Los Osos, CA USA)
|
|
I purchased this cover a couple of months ago because I was using my Mt. Bike for lunch time rides at work and I could not keep it inside. I did not want the bike to sit outside in the rain and other dampness. I was surprised when I recieved this cover that it was so compact and light weight. I thought it might be flimsy, but it has proven to be sturdy and fits my bike well. It has stayed on through high winds and heavy rain without any problems. It's easy to take on and off and the carrying case is attached to the cover so it doesn't get lost. I honestly don't know how it could be any better for my needs. I just ordered one for my touring bike because it would fit easily in a pannier.

Mountain Bike Cover, June 6, 2010
By brucevr6 (USA)

A good quality product. Perfect fit for my wife's small frame bike, but a tight fit for my medium frame full suspension bike. Light weight and seems durable. I purchased the second one after being satisfied with the first, but should have checked fit on BOTH bikes.

Disappointed, October 10, 2010
By 10s4ever (Seattle, WA)
|
|
I recently bought this product for my mountain bike. The fit is fine and up until a rain storm it worked fine. I live in Seattle, WA, where it tends to rain...The whole underneath of this bike cover was soaking wet. I am extremely disappointed with this product. It looks as though the water just went directly through the cover to the bike, even the seat cover was soaked.

good cover for a great proce, September 4, 2010
By Travel Author (Cardiff by the Sea, CA)

|
This is a basic cover that does the job very well, if like us, you have to leave your bikes outside. We've bought them for 3 bikes. And living near the ocean, our bikes always rust out prematurely - in 2 or 3 years. So far after 9 months, the first cover we bought, the bike under it is still shinny & new looking. I highly recommend, can't beat the price for the quality, not a cheap or thin cover - works for what it was designed to do. Your can pay more for basically the same type product. But why?

Covers my bike. Couldn't ask for more., April 25, 2010
By C. J. Singer

The cover does its job, which is to effectively cover my bike. The only complaint that I would have is that it is a bit of a chore to pack away in its built in stuff sack since the sack unzips fully.

A bit of a tight fit, July 19, 2010
By Impetigo (Baltimore, MD)

Overall, this cover seems to be of a decent build quality, but I found that it was too small even for my 15"" mountain bike, which made it a pain to put on and off. This one is going back to dentalBookshop.

Great product!, September 1, 2010

These covers do what they're supposed to do! They are easy to handle and provide full coverage for my hybrid-style bikes. I'll admit the weather hasn't challenged them too much, but the bikes are outside, and the covers have kept them clean and ready to ride.

The perfect 26" MTB cover., March 6, 2012
By Yuni (Tokyo)
|
|
This cover is very light, but just fit to my 26" MTB&durable. There are two straps to tires for wind. My old cover was cheap, but it was very easy to be blowed off by strong wind. This new cover is perfect to protect my bike from sunshine, rain, and dust. Thanks a lot.

Keeps my bike dry, March 4, 2011
By Wendy (Santa Clara, CA)
|
|
My bike has been living outside for the past four years. I decided to buy a cover to prevent further damage of my bike from the weather. It has worked great! Since I covered it, the rust has stopped spreading and the bike is in generally the same shape as when I bought the cover. I did take one star off because the seat of my bicycle, which is up against the cover, was soaking wet after this past winter. I think some moisture must be seeping through the cover where it is up against the bike. Overall, great purchase!

One Issue, January 8, 2011
By Elissa

I got this bike cover for my husband for Christmas, which he really liked. I don't doubt this was a good buy, however, since he has to keep his bike locked outside (no room in our apartment) it makes it challenging to cover his whole bike with the cover---since the bike lock is in the way. I suppose I wish there was some opening for the lock to "comfortably" come out, but perhaps that might defeat the purpose? In any case, I'd still recommend this product.

Durable, March 30, 2012
By Kathryn Bonham
|
|
I am just over 5' and have a small bike, 48 cm, and this fits perfectly. It's does cover the entire thing so it would also be good for medium-sized bikes as well but nothing larger. It comes with a zipper that allows you to pack it into a nice little square afterward but I have never and don't plan to put that feature to use. It's much too complicated.
However, though rain and shine this cover has been able to withstand it all. Again, perfect for small to medium sized bikes. Durable and easy to cover the bike with.

This cover is light weight. There are a couple of things that are disappointing. It isn't long enough to fit over my whole bike and it doesn't extend to the ground but stops about 8" above the ground. I was looking for something waterproof and doubt that this does more than keep the dust off.

They do the job I pay them for...limited yes, but that is all I want...bloody little sparrows!, May 21, 2011
By D. Blankenship (The Ozarks)

I have three of these covers. I bought them because of the price...I am cheap. I use them on two road bikes and one hybrid.
Now let me be perfectly clear. These bikes are NOT kept out in the elements. They are kept in a nice warm barn; a locked and tight barn...a very dry barn with a cement floor. I bought them primarily to keep the dust and occasional splattering of bird doo doo off of them. They work perfectly for what I bought them for.
I should note that on the one occasion when I did leave the hybrid out and used this cover on it, it did rain...a real frog choker. This cover did indeed, as a couple of other reviewers have mentioned, leak...like a sieve to be honest with you. If it were me, (knowing what I paid for my bikes...obscene it was), I would go ahead and fork out bigger bucks if I were leaving my bikes outside all of the time. This is just my limited experience. I see where other reviewers have had better luck in this area.
Would I buy these again? Yes...they work perfectly for the use to which I put them to. They are cheap, workable, light, easy to handle and frustrate the sparrows.

Great Cover, October 9, 2011
By Elizabeth Monteavaro
|
|
I ordered these covers for 5 bikes (two adult and three child sized) which we store outside. The covers are very attractive and work perfectly. The water actually balls up when it falls on the cover since the fabric repels water. The covers fit all five bikes even though you need to pull it down and fasten it a bit better on the bigger bikes. I was surprised that so many neighbors asked us about the covers (what's under there? where did you get those? for how much?). It really does makes the bikes look exotic as if we have a motorcycle hidden under that cover. The price was reasonable and the product effective.

Great Design; POOR QUALITY, February 19, 2012
By Mario41OC

|
The cover is very well designed. Unfortunately, it is made out of very THIN material that tears easily and does not protect well at all. It's sad that companies design great products only to have them made with very poor quality materials just to make a fast buck. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product.

I like this cover!!, March 9, 2012
By Man Shan Lin
|
|
I know the product description did mention the size, but just want to quickly add that it fits my 13" frame (woman's size) TREK FITNESS bike (Mine the model no is: 7.2FX WSD 13 BL 12). When I tried it on my husband's 18" frame men's bike (other brand), it's too small. Unless you don't mind the wheels won't be fully covered, and too snug (front to back), then it will probably work for you as well.
The nylon material seems pretty sturdy, but I haven't used it for outdoor yet. The zipper (storage) bag that came with the design is pretty good too, so anytime I want to pack it away, I can wrap/zip it back inside.
Not that it really matters, but the "looks" is definitely better than the picture! Cause there are two white/beige color strips - like Y shape looks in front - that really makes it stand out.
Nice deal: Good material, size fit, great color, easy storage. I am taking one star out just because I don't how well it will stand the outdoor weather.

Take Cover, July 14, 2011
By Jay
|
|
For the price and what I need it to do, it was a good buy. I store the bike in my garage but since I live by the beach, I decided I need to cover the bike to not only keep it clean but also help prevent moisture from getting to it, as well. The covers they sell at REI are double (or more) the price of this cover and do basically the same thing so this Avenir cover is well worth the investment. It also comes with a case (attached to the cover so it doesn't get lost) in case you have a need to take the cover with you on your ride.

Got it today, May 25, 2011
By Mr. Scottie D. Payne Jr.
|
|
Super fast one day delivery, no extra charge and probably a mistake. Just want to let possible buyers know that it did not fit like it looks in the picture, I would say 6" shorter than the picture. My bike is a big mountain bike, maybe it's the seat being so high. It may work better on a road bike.
Anyway, if you get it and decide you don't want it, good luck folding it back up and putting in the paperback book size pouch.......

Commuter Tarp, May 14, 2011
By Walden

This is a light, durable cover. If it were designed with a stuff sack, instead of a zip pocket, I would give it five stars. It fits small to medium mountain bikes. I prefer my CoverMates for 4-season storage on my balcony, but the Avenir is perfect for commuting use.

snug fit with good coverage, January 2, 2011
By Stephen
|
|
This cover is a bit fidgety to get on my cross-bike (not sure the exact size, but I'm 6 foot), but once it is on, it is a pleasantly snug, lean fit without extra flapping material. It also has extra straps to attach it to the wheels and under the bike for extra-secure fit, but for my bike it is a close enough fit that I don't use those.
I think the weight of the cover is a good balance between durability and lightweight material to fold it up and carry it along, but I've only had it a month and don't expect it to last years.
It would be improved by having better markings to show front/back/sides to make it easier to line it up for putting it on the bike.
But I like it enough that I'm going to buy another one for my wife's bike.

Solid Cover for an Unbeatable Price, January 30, 2012
By Darren
|
|
I purchased this cover to wrap up my girlfriend's bicycle for a winter on my deck. Since her cruiser is large and has a handlebar basket, I was worried that it might not fit. But it was just large enough to cover the bike from the bottom of the wheels to the handlebars.
It's already survived it's first rain and snow looking none the worse for wear; but I'm a little worried about the nylon. I'm a bit of a klutz and could easily see myself accidentally punching a tear. It does not seem like the most sturdy material.

Great, December 9, 2011
By C. E. Bestard (Texas)

Apparently there are a lot of sub-standard covers out there from reading reviews but this one is great. Is plenty wide at the handlebars and has contrasting stitching to make it easy to put the cover on correctly. Has a little zippered pocket that you can stuff the cover in when not in use. Also has velcro tiedowns on both wheels to prevent it blowing off. A good choice, and I assume the road bike cover is just as good.

Not for every mountain bike, May 22, 2012
By Steven E. Mull
|
|
I purchased this cover for my new mountain bike. I liked the light material. It comes in a zip pouch that is connected to the cover. It will never go back into the pouch, just like many things you buy with bags or boxes, never fits back in. The cover itself is too small for my mountain bike. I don't understand the need to make a bike cover so tight that it won't fit down over the whole bike. I'm not happy with this purchase! I will now have to shop for another bike cover.

It does what it does. Period., May 14, 2012
By Stefan Li

Not sure how you can possible review a bike cover, but this thing does what it does. Simple as that. It even has grey lines to cover it efficiently. By that I mean you're not covering it sideways, etc etc, trust me, it'll be hard to tell without it. I have a 26" bike and it covers it up to 3/4 of the bike. It also has Velcro straps to hold it during windy days.
Another plus is that the case is the cover itself, so if you ever need to pack it. It'll fold back into a zipper case that's about as big the palm of your hand.
