Argh - Amazon's sizes aren't correct!, March 30, 2011
By SgtSnugglezzz (Portland, OR USA)

|
Maybe this is a good product? I guess I will find out in 6 months or so? I was suspicious when I ordered this when the size chart was for generic Amazon "baby" sizes, but took a chance anyway. That was a mistake. Now I have a swim diaper that won't fit till my girl gains a good 6 pounds. WTG Amazon.
Here is the size chart from the actual product tag:
Small: 10-18 pounds; 6-months
Medium: 18-22 pounds; 12 months
Large: 22-25 pounds; 18 months
X-Lrge: 25-30 pounds; 24 months

Super Pants, August 17, 2009
By BusyMom (Atlanta, GA)

|
Wonderful product. When our neighborhood pool started requiring a swim diaper and rubber pants for any child under 4, I was a little anxious as our 2-yr old was already potty trained and was worried about all the layers and her being confused about wearing pants now. I love how this product is all-in-one so she just can wear these under her suit. Not terribly bulky, washes well and you save money buy not having to buy the disposable swim diapers. Bought another pair for my 6-mo old as well.

Sturdy Swim Diaper, September 12, 2009
By angelbam (NYC, NY)
|
|
We bought this swim diaper after borrowing a friends Wee Wave swim diaper, which we loved. I liked this one because it was white, and didn't have any silly patterns on it. It fits my 20 lb daughter well, especially around the legs. She has used it a lot, as my parents have a pool, and we are staying here for the summer. My only complaint is, the whole diaper isn't lined as well as the part around the crotch is. But, it has kept in several potentially disastrous, ummm, events, shall we say. On the whole, it has been a great buy.

WILL hold the Poo!, March 8, 2011
By Domesticated Gal
|
|
I used these diapers with my son for 5 months last year, in both swimming pools and a fresh water lake. He weighed around 25-28lbs and wore 18mo sized pants for most of that time, so the Large fit perfectly - you Have to have a snug fit in the legs. They are a bit sheer when wet, but the padding in the crotch area make it still ok to use w/o swim trunks over them if you forget them.
Most important - THEY DO HOLD IN POO! Between my husband and I, we had at least 3 big poos over the summer - and the diapers NEVER LEAKED POO. That being said, because you have to peel the diaper down off the kid, it is almost impossible to get the poopy diapers off w/o a bit of a mess. But at least you don't have to worry about causing a health crisis/shutting down the local pool b/c of a poo leak.
They wash easily, and even survive a few accidental runs through the dryer. We took swim lessons 2-3 times a week, and only needed 3 diapers to get us through the summer.
One last note - don't change into the swim diaper until you are ready to get in the pool. Like all swim diapers, they are designed to hold in the poo, not urine. So if he wets himself on the way to the pool wearing the swim diaper, everything is going to get soaked.

Best Reusable Swim Diaper, February 12, 2011
By BeachMom
|
|
We bought this swim diaper along with the Bummis and Flap Happy brands for my 12 month old. This swim diaper definitely is the best in terms of padding/absorbancy, sizing, and leak-proofing.
The other two brands, in comparison, just have mesh linings whereas the iPlay has something similar to a cloth diaper lining inside in addition to the mesh, plus elastic around the top & legs. I thought the outside of this diaper was going to just be regular cloth like the Flap Happy brand, but it's actually more like a water resistant shell. I really trust this diaper on its own in the pool versus the other two.
There is also a really cute little blue accent tag at the top.
I do like the styles/patterns of the other two swim diapers (black sharks on the Flap Happy and blue clown fish on the Bummis) but this diaper seems to be the best quality and leakproof, which is what really matters.

sizing is off, August 17, 2010

the swim diapers them selves are great. the sizing is not accurate. my daughter is 13 months and about 20 pounds and the large size were too small on her.
the good news is that when i called amazon to let them know about the size issue, they refunded my money no questions asked. amazon rocks!!!!

Does the job, July 20, 2010
By A. Bennett
|
|
This diaper does the job of preventing pool accidents, and in white it is unobtrusive under all of my daughter's swimsuits. I'm a little confused by the review that said the small (10-18lbs) was too small for her 14lb. baby. My 7-month-old is currently 17+ pounds, and the small still fits fine, although I just ordered the medium for her to move up to soon. Note that the diaper is supposed to be tight around the legs and waist; it wouldn't keep anything in otherwise! I will say that I have a fairly tall baby at 28 inches, so if yours is more of a chunk, I suppose you MIGHT need to size up.

Best.Swim.Dipe.EVER, August 9, 2010

This is hands down the best swim diaper we have ever used (and after 3 kids I have used A LOT of swim diapers). It doesn't leave red marks on my son's legs and completely contains messes. I love that I can just toss it in the wash with all the swim stuff and don't have to find a trash can as I leaving the pool. The inside is a soft cotton terry instead of netting. A++ product!

Cloth-Diapered Baby, June 21, 2011
By miss'tronic
|
|
I bought size 18 months for my 22 lb, 9 month old boy. The diaper fits well and is thin enough to fit under any swim trunks. We tested it out on vacation and it worked fairly well - it caught the poop (although would probably not hold up too well with loose/runny poop), but didn't hold up well as far as absorbing pee. If you plan on spending a day at the beach or pool, you should plan on getting several of these to change every couple of hours or so.
We normally use cloth diapers for our little one and have been using the pocket diapers without the insert as swim diapers. Those work awesome, absorb well, and don't weigh the baby down when they're soaking wet as much as the iPlay diaper does (surprisingly). If you are already a cloth diaper user, I would recommend this alternative as opposed to spending the money on this diaper. If you are new to cloth diapering, the iPlay Swim Diaper is a great way to experience how easy it is to use reusable diapers, save money and save the environment while you're at it.

no seller contact, June 14, 2010

The sizing is wrong. I bought the small and my daughter is only 14lbs. The sizing said to 18lbs. It didn't fit her. I tried to contact seller, there's no option to contact seller or exchange for a larger size. I'm stuck with something that doesn't fit. Pathetic.

Perfect!, July 25, 2010
By Lisa (Chesapeake, VA USA)
|
|
LOVE this swim diaper, I don't know why we didn't do it sooner! We use cloth diapers (fuzzi bunz) and overall are happy with those. I used Huggies swimmie diapers for the pool, figured it was more sanitary in case of an accident, but always seems to give the boys (now ages 2 and 6 months) a bad rash, probably the chemicals mixed with chlorine. So finally bought these last month and am so happy! So worth every penny and they will save us in the long run, too. We haven't had a big pooh in them, but I have no doubt they'd work just as well as any disposable. I bought four pairs so we'd have an extra for each kiddo while at the pool just incase. I wash them on warm with the boys' clothes and then line dry, they do great! They do run pretty small I'd say, I was surprised. We got medium and they fit both a kids well (17lbs and about 20lbs). Our two year old is VERY small for his age and he'll probably be in a large soon. I'd highly recommend them to any one, it's a great alternative to the cost of disposables, plus it's easier on a kiddo's bum, AND it's more green. Can't go wrong.

Great investment, June 13, 2011
By twin mom (NC)
|
|
We are so pleased with these diapers for our twins. Given these will likely only work for one summer with growing babies, we considered disposable swim diapers too, but just really didn't like the idea of tossing a diaper after every water visit. Even though price-wise, we might have come out even or only a little ahead with these (we ordered 2 per baby, upping the investment), we're really happy with them. It's less waste, more eco-friendly, very easy to get off and on with the side snaps, and easy to wash and hang dry. With babies almost one year old, we aren't in any pool or beach for more than 45 minutes, and sometimes only about 15 mins, so it's nice to not feel like we 'wasted' a disposable diaper for a short swim. All in all, a terrific product and highly recommended if you plan on hitting the pool or beach even once every week or so.

has snaps on the side, May 21, 2011
By E. Wilson (Maryland)
|
|
Somehow with all the reviews I read I missed the detail that this diaper has snaps on one side. This is an unexpected bonus! The material, especially the gathered elastic leg holes, is so much softer than I expected. This will not leave crinkly elastic imprints on her thighs like I feared. Ordered a size large for my 20lb 14 month old who wears size 4 diapers and it fits great.

Great Diaper - Wrong Size Chart, July 15, 2010
By CarolLee (Kansas City)
|
|
I love this diaper - it has worked great for my 2 year old - I would highly recommend the product. The problem is the sizing chart is misleading. I ordered a small (thinking it would fit a 2T girl based on the sizing chart info) and a 6mo sized diaper was sent. You should contact the seller to get the correct sizing information based on weight prior to ordering.

Terrible swim diaper!, July 25, 2011
By HMRT (Dallas, TX)
|
|
I've used many different kinds of swim diapers before, Bummis, applecheeks, bumgenius 4.0 covers only without soakers (these work great!) and know what a swim diaper should do: hold in poo, and NOT absorb water. I bought these because our daughter is newly potty trained and these came in white and were styled more like panties than the others which go on like diapers, which I thought was better for our "no more diapers" mentality after potty training (our pool requires swim diapers for kids under 4). Boy was I disappointed. Though the price was good, and they seemed well made enough, the bottom line is that this product is a terrible swim diaper. It does not work. It absorbs water, in fact, it fills up with water and puffs out under the swimsuit, making it look like your child is wearing a giant inflatable panty under their swimwear. Also, the water catches around the leg openings, which hold water and sag out of the edges of the swimsuit. It really looks terrible, and doesn't do the job a swim diaper should. I will be returning this product. First of all, swim diapers should not have any absorbency -they're not meant to hold pee, only to contain poo in case of an in-pool accident. Why they put absorbent fabric in this, I don't know. And the bulky style really makes it inflate. Try another product, there are much better ones out there. I'm really surprised there are so many positive reviews for this product. Maybe people wrote them without actually trying them in a pool.....

Not for chubby legs!, June 23, 2011
By Erin Hobbs
|
|
I bought this for our 8-month-old daughter and followed the size guidelines, going by her weight. She was well in the medium range (19 pounds). I didn't want it to be loose and therefore ineffective, so I went by the chart and ordered the medium. The elastic digs into her scrumptious leg rolls and I have to return it. Rather than chance it with the large, I'm going to order another brand with adjustable velcro in hopes that she can wear it for a couple of years. Otherwise, it seems to be well-made, like it would wash well and dry quickly.

Good for underneath swim wear., June 20, 2011
By Rachel McCulloch (Miami, Florida)

This is a good liner to add to your baby's swimwear. The fit is a little bulky on my 19 pound son, even though the elastic around the waist digs into his skin leaving a red rash. I don't think this is the perfect fit. I wanted to love this.. but I just don't. I probably won't order any more of these.

Excellent Swim Diaper, June 7, 2011
By candlmama (Virginia)
|
|
Purchased this in size 18 months for my small 2.5 year old (he's 21 lbs). The sizing seems to be right on going by the weight charts posted by other reviewers. And the diaper works GREAT! No leaks whatsoever. And my son tested it out with a couple of #2's with no issues at all. He fusses every time that I put it on him, which I'm thinking is probably from the elastic around the legs. But there weren't any marks around his legs when I took it off of him, so I don't think it's too tight. He's just picky :)

It snaps on one side!, April 20, 2011
By A. Jordan (East Taunton, MA United States)
|
|
I didn't realize this snaps on one side which makes it easier to get off. I only bought one of these for $10 & pd $15 for a different dipe (Imse Vimse) that snaps on the side, as I thought these just pulled on. This diaper seems better than the other one as it has a little bit of padding where the other one is just a cover. I haven't tried either diaper out yet, but wanted people to know that this does snap on the side.

Just perfect for swimming, March 11, 2011
By Amy R. Prater

I love this swim diaper. I got the Medium, which is for 18-22 lbs. It fits my 18.5 lb son just right and it has a nice soft layer inside against his skin. I also like the fact that I am not wasting money, and landfill space, on disposable diapers.
Updated June 2011: I liked this diaper so much I purchased the Large (22-25 lb) so I have it when my son outgrows the medium size. He is 21 lbs now so he'll need the large size soon. This is such a great product. I tell all my "parent of younger children" friends about it.

the BEST swim diaper, May 26, 2010
By Alicia A. Wilson (Rolla, MO)
|
|
I have been purchasing disposable swim diapers for some time now and they were getting a bit expensive with all the swimming we do. Disposable swim diapers were also a seasonal item so trying to find them during the winter months was a pain so when I came across these I decided to try them and boy am I glad I did. It has saved me so much money and they are so sturdy and they stay on my thin 23 month old. She has not had an accident in them but if she did I'm sure they would contain the accident no problem. I like that they are machine washable and they dry very quickly. I have recommended them to everyone I talk to...I do need to get another pair just in case she does have an accident (just for back-up).

This swim diaper is perfect for my son. It keeps everything in, and goes on easily. I really like the side snaps. Like other reviewers suggested, I bought the next size up, and that one fit nicely. It would have been way too small if I ordered his correct size according to his age, and he is average size for height and weight (50th percentiles).

So far, so great! Love the side snaps!, June 1, 2011
By New Mom
|
|
The snaps are the key to this being a great swim diaper. Who wants to pull a swim diaper down your child's legs that is full of poop?! This swim diaper is easy to get on and off and fits true to size. See the iplay website or other reviews for the sizing. We ordered the medium (18-22 lbs) which is a 12-month size and fits my son who is 20.5 pounds. We have not had to test its ability to hold in the poop yet but we love it so far. It fits well under my son's swim suit. I love that you can toss it in the wash. I am going to order another one since we plan on swimming everyday this summer.

Don't use this size chart!, April 8, 2011
By reg (Houston)
|

The size chart on this product says a small is for size 2 - 3, but it is actually for a size 6 months. My daughter bought a large for her almost 2 year old twins. Fortunately, they are on the skinny side, so they will be able to use them, but they are almost too small. They wear 12 - 18 month pants. The swim diapers themselves are better than the disposables, but I wish they would size them correctly.

Best swim diaper around, March 29, 2011
By Martha M. Lee (Savannah, GA)
|
|
This swim diaper is so great, it's got me into looking at other baby gear made by iPlay. It absorbs wetness, something that other swim diapers just don't do, and it has a snap closure down one side/leg so that it's super easy to take on and off - even with a swimsuit still on. I'm singing it's praises. Best swim diaper around. I bought two white ones to go up under my 11 month old little girl's swimsuit. We're ready for the beach!

Fabulous, June 28, 2010
By Kara V (Gaithersburg, MD)

|
This diaper has been great. It saved us a ton of money because we did not have to buy swim diapers for our weekly swimming lessons, and my son doesnt flip out putting it on like he did with the swimmy diapers.
It is super easy to clean, dries pretty quickly when left on a drying rack, and doesnt show any weird patterns through on any of his trunks.
The only reason I did not give this diaper 4 stars is that the sizing is a little bit hard to figure out and if you are between sizes going up can leave small gaps which dont do so well at keeping things in. I would still highly recommend it though.

Sizing, x-large too small, June 20, 2011
By Nikki (Seattle)
|
|
I had read all the reviews of this diaper first, so I figured I was safe buying the x-large. (My son is 19 months old, 28 lbs.) It's too SMALL and I can't snap it around his waist without, what looks to me, extreme discomfort on his part. So, the sizing on this thing seems really weird. I'm not seeing any options on Amazon for larger than x-large, but regardless, I'm thinking that would be too big, so I'll just find a different diaper.

Nice reusable swim diaper, June 23, 2011

The sizing that someone else posted is accurate! The small fits my 15lb son perfectly. We have yet to have a poop incident while wearing this so I can't say if it works to contain it or not. It certainly seems like it will work. I like the snaps on the side which make it easy to get off. It would be nice if it came in other colors but thats really not important I guess.

iplay swim diaper review, August 15, 2010
By NAV (WI)

The iplay Swim diaper is great for our daughter. She is somewhat potty trained, so I bought it "just in case" she had an accident. The large states it fits up to 18 months, and that's a good estimate (she's 27 pounds at it's now getting tight). I like that she can wear this swim diaper and I can wash it!

After realizing that the disposable diapers don't absorb anything and are basically poop catchers, I was amazed to find that this swim diaper really does absorb. It's the only diaper our local swim club will allow. We use ours all the time, and it washes great. I tried the swimways swim diaper before this, and the iplay diaper is definitely the better option.

Awesome swim diaper!, August 19, 2011
By lilliputian81 (Eastern United States)

I love this washable swim diaper! It has snaps on one side to make it easy to get on and off. The inside fabric is very soft against baby's skin. I bought it because our local pool requires something besides disposable swim diapers, which don't actually contain things that well. These diapers truly keep in both kinds of messes. I also love that I can just rinse it out or throw it in the washing machine. I'll be buying more in various sizes!

Great diaper, careful with sizing on amazon, August 19, 2011
By Ling (Queens, NY)
|

This swim diaper is great to use since disposable swim diapers are so expensive. It is easy to get on and off with the side snaps as well. And realize that those people that complain that it doesn't work don't understand the purpose of a swim diaper. It will not keep the urine from leaking - it is purely to keep the solids from going into the pool. That is pretty much how all swim diapers work, or else you would have a 50 pound baby coming out of a pool! So just put the diaper on right before going into the water and switch it out for a regular diaper when you're done. The sizing off the product's label (don't follow amazon's sizing) is as follows: small is 10-18 pounds, medium is 18-22 pounds, large is 22-25 pounds.

Work great!, August 15, 2011
By Kate (Denver, CO)

These are the first baby swim diaper I've ever purchased, so I don't have anything to compare them to. That said, they work just as I expected them to. They have a row of snaps on the side which make them easy to take on and off. While I think it would work to have the baby just in the swim diaper, I put a pair of swim trunks over them and it worked great. I bought the smallest size, which is six months, and put them on my 3 month old and they fit. There's a lot of elastic, so I hope he can wear them for a while. No leaks and easy to clean.

Nice product - far too big., August 15, 2011
By Laura Shapland

This swim nappy is easy to get on and off, and easy to take care of - I put it on a cold rinse through the machine each time we go in the pool.
On the downside, it's far too big. I went by weight and while my daughter met the minimum weight recommendation at 2 1/2 months, it would be useless for containing any mess. We use it as an under layer with a 'Happy Nappy' from Splash About and that works great.

Glad I purchased, August 3, 2011
By ILoveOnlineReviews&Shopping (Westland, MI)

I read all the previous reviews about this swim diaper before purchasing so I knew that the sizing is off and to buy a larger size. (This sizing issue is not really a deal breaker with a product in my opinion--many articles of clothing are this way). There was one thing that does bring my rating down: We have gone swimming three times and two of those three times, my daughter was sitting on my lap (after swimming). All of a sudden I felt a whoosh of warm pee on my lap. I'm definitely new to swim diapers as this is my first child and have never bought disposable ones, but I'm not really sure I will ever warm up to the idea of getting peed on at the pool. I'm not sure if a disposable diaper would have done the same thing?? I suppose the diaper was just full of water from being in the pool, but then again how is it supposed to trap urine when the baby pees in the pool? (I think the next time we are at the pool, I will change her into a dry diaper immediately after getting out of the pool to avoid getting peed on again). Other than this detail, I think the diaper is well made and washes well. I have always hand washed mine and laid it to dry (like the label says). I am however, glad that I purchased these because after a few washes it pays for itself (unlike expensive disposable diapers), it is reusable and seems built to last (through multiple children even). I do like however that it is white and not some fruity color or character print. It may be worth it however to buy a few and change baby into a new one (if you are spending the day at the pool).

Working well, no complaints, July 29, 2011

We have now used these about 4-5 times with no problems. They seem to contain the pee/poop as far as I can tell, but she hasn't had to go yet while she is wearing them.

Love these!, July 19, 2011

We have lots of different swim diapers thanks to hand me downs from family. The iplay brand is the only one we found that absorbs on the inside and keeps waste from getting out at the same time. All the others brands we have are just a water proof layer. The iplay brand is our favorite by far.:)

Great swim diaper- even you are not doing cloth diapers, July 15, 2011
By M. Waclawski (Des Plaines)

I love this diaper. I also do cloth diapers but this is good even for people that maybe feel hesitant to the idea of cloth- like diaper in the swimming pool- but if you think about it- your regular plastic diaper doesn't absorb pee anyway. So but it- you won't regret it. Plus it will save you money since you can reuse it and reuse it.

We haven't had any accidents yet to see if it contains anything yet, but it's a well made diaper. My daughter has no problem wearing it, it dries very fast and is easy to put on and take off.

This swim diaper is perfect for my 4 month old baby. I love the fact that I can just stick it in the washer and don't have to fuss with disposable swim diapers. Plus, the fit was perfect. I plan to buy a larger size as my baby gets bigger because I can't imagine going back to disposable swim diapers.

Does the job!, July 9, 2011
By Anne Behler (State College, PA United States)

Does an excellent job at containing messes. My daughter has tested the diaper's capacity nearly every time she's worn it swimming, and we have not been disappointed. Also easy to clean and take care of - holds up well to washing. I'm so glad we bought these diapers instead of wasting money on disposables!

I wish it came in something other than white. Our local YMCA will not let our child wear white swim diapers. Otherwise, good product that we will use at the beach.

great swim diaper, April 24, 2011
By happy mom

I use this under a cutter swim suit. It's great for my baby. It's comfortable and fits well. I don't like using disposable diapers so this is the perfect solution for me: a swim diaper that is cloth and that can be reused. Great for my baby's sensitive skin and for the environment.

Works but runs small, February 11, 2011

If your child is close to the next size buy the next size larger. We ended up using disposables for swim class because he had diaper plumbers crack which defeats the purpose.

Not too much to say about this other than it does the job and it's handy having one or two reusable swim diapers if you take your baby swimming often. No complaints, and I would recommend this product.

I bought these for our 3 month old and they fit great. She is four months now and still a great fit...should get me through the summer. I use them under her bathingsuit. I like the white because it doesnt clash with her pink and green bathingsuit.

What a relief!, July 6, 2010
By R. Finlayson

To be rid of those awful and pricy disposable swim diapers. Bought this white one b/c it was plain and basic with no silly patterns. My 18 month old runs around in this without a proper swimsuit and looks just fine. I bought according to his size and it was a bit small with no growing room, so you might size up. I really like the fact that, if necessary, I can throw this thing in the washer with some bleach and be ready for the next day of swimming. And I've gotten 3 months of use out of it already when I would've only gotten 2 weeks with the same cost in swimmie throw aways. Oy!

Excellent for the pool!, June 28, 2010
By Shannon (Chicago, IL)
|
|
We have a pool so the disposables would get expensive for the amount of time we are in the pool. Plus, the disposables start at size 3/4 and that wouldn't keep anything in since it's too big. The Swim Diaper has been great and getting a lot of use this year! It easy enough to rinse and hang out to dry and then I throw in in the washer a couple times a week and then air dry. It's a big money saver.

This swim diaper is well made and cute (I love the little blue fishy sewn to the waist line!). My son hasn't had a blow out in it yet so I can't comment on how well it holds in the icky stuff, but it seems like it'll contain any big messes.

Great Product, March 21, 2011
By AmazonMom
|

I recently bought this because I got tired of my daughter's regular diaper ballooning up to gigantic proportions when she goes swimming. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I haven't had the chance to see how it handles baby poo. It fits very snugly, but doesn't seem to be uncomfortably tight. It isn't meant to absorb water, so there is no ballooning like with the disposables. I only wish I could find these in some cuter designs.
