Great cycling jacket, November 6, 2009
By Annie bikes (Bristol, TN United States)

This jacket is just what I was looking for in a cycling jacket, bright color, wind protection, and water resistant (I have not worn it in the rain yet). I love that the sleeves zip off but wish the zippers ran from bottom to top rather than the other direction as it would allow a bit more armpit ventilation with the arms still on. The only problem that I have with this jacket is in great agreement with the other review...it runs really small. I always wear a medium in a jacket to give a little extra room for a layer underneath. I had to reorder a large, and the sleeves are a bit long. However, I will take the sleeves for a little more room in the body. The collar is very comfortable and soft. I am sure that I will get much use out of this jacket. Overall, a great asset to my safety with the high-vis yellow color. (screaming yellow)

A Worthy Successor, October 31, 2010
By J9 (Maryland, USA)

Bought this jacket in advance of a half-iron distance race that I knew would be quite chilly. It was 50 degrees when I came out of the water, I threw this jacket on when I was still wet, and it was perfect the entire ride. Light, breathable, and silky smooth with no billowing. For training rides, I love the pockets and the fact I can very easily take the sleeves off and that they come off as one unit, not two. Very clever design. I new I wanted this particular model because it is the successor to my 25-year old Pearl Izumi windbreaker. Quality lasts.

Nice!, October 12, 2009
By Danielle Bond (Huntsville, AL)

I love this jacket!!! Being able to convert it and place the sleeves in the back pocket is wonderful and the bright yellow is easily visible. Only problem is that the size runs really small. I ordered a larger size than normal and still found it tight at the shoulders (especially when gripping the handlebars). Light-weight, warm and soft on the skin. Not sure how it does for rain yet, but for wind it's pretty good.

Perfect cycling jacket, February 8, 2010
By Lisa (Winter Park, FL)

I love it. The sleeves zip off easily into a one piece boldero that stuffs into the roomy back pocket very easily. The back pocket has a side zip which is sooo much easier than back zippers. This jacket is nice enough to use off the bike too! The vest looks great by itself. My new favorite.

Good Jacket-Careful With Size, January 11, 2011
By JT (West Coast)

These are good versatile jackets. Our experience is that the men's run pretty true to size, but the women's run somewhat small.

Great bike jacket, March 14, 2011
By Cynthia Marie Harding (COSTA MESA, CA, US)

I'm very satisfied with my bike jacket. It's got the upper pocket & side pockets & is Super Lightweight! I can unzip the sleeves & store 'em in a pocket or I can take the entire jacket off & slip it into one of my jersey pockets...very cool!

Perfect jacket, February 21, 2011
By Fernanda Segura (The Woodlands, Tx)

This jacket is perfect for spring rides. It blocks the wind, lightweight and easily convertible. True to the size, fits tight. I feel confident that car drivers will see me half a mile away! If it gets warm, just convert it to vest in a snap. Love it!

How to make your runner happy!, January 18, 2011
By Robert J Goebel (Clinton Twp, MI, US)

Bought this as a gift for my daughter and she loves it. She runs daily on the streets of northern New Jersey and has been stopped by a motorist, who stated he was able to see her a mile away. She loves the wind protection and the ability to remove the sleeves and store them in the back pocket.

Not what I wanted, February 27, 2011

This year's model was not as nice as last year's. Fabric was flimsy. I didn't realize that it was different from last year. I returned the product.

Great for Visibility and Wind -- Not so much for rain, October 1, 2011
By Brenda F. Bell
|
|
I got this jacket in high-visibility yellow for its color and reflective trim and the fact that it can be converted to a vest. That said, since I often need to wear a daypack while cycling, I rarely remove the sleeves -- I need the visibility.
I wear it all the time at night or in overcast weather, though I must admit it is not nearly AS visible that one or two weeks a year when the leaves on the trees are the same bright yellow. I also wear it as a weather barrier over my Pearl Izumi Insula-Tour winter cycling jacket as an additional barrier against wind and weather.
That said, when it is raining, the inside of the jacket gets just as wet as the outside.

Perfect light weight vest/jacket, August 3, 2011
By Ann from Montana (Kalispell, MT)
|
|
I have a convertible jacket/vest (different brand) that is over 10 years old and wanted another light weight vest - partly to have pockets for phone and dog bags :)! This is perfect and bonus to have the sleeves. There is a rear pocket to store the sleeves as well - like a bike shirt pocket. VERY light weight, perfect length for me: just below the cheeks in back, shorter in front. I usually order L or XL (14-16) but based on photos and other comments, ordered a xxl and it is perfect on shoulders, length and width. Happy!

This lightweight jacket/vest is perfect for cool mornings that heat up after a couple of hours. It easily converts to a vest and the one piece sleeve combination easily packs into a pocket. Great product.

Pearl Izumi Women's Elite Barrier Jacket, May 31, 2011
By Jodig

I like the jacket it fits well and has a very nice look. The only thing I don't like is that it uses velcro versus magnets to hold the convertible area to the vest. I would recommend for avid cyclists.

Highly visible, May 29, 2011
By Sasha

I use this jacket every time I bicycle. People now stop for me in cross walks or wave me on to turn in front of them. It's hot in Vegas so I always wear the jacket without the sleeves which zipper off in one piece conveniently. Worth every penny for safety reasons.

Runs small, May 24, 2011
By Kristine
|
|
I bought the jacket because I wanted something that could be converted into a vest for warmer weather. After reading the reviews, I bought a size larger (medium). I'm a small-framed girl with no boobs so I normally wear a size small in 99% of cases. I'm soo glad I bought the medium. Once I tried it on, I noticed it can be a little tight around the shoulders (I have relatively broad shoulders). The jacket is breathable and light, made with the superior high quality construction Pearl izumi always provides. The jacket is fitted enough to almost look like a long-sleeved jersey. It has a large pocket where the sleeves can be stored and a larger one on the back. This was such a good buy! With the jacket I'm confident that I'll be noticeable on the road.

versitile jacket for running or biking, May 7, 2011
By kato
|
|
i love this jacket! i am an avid outdoor sports enthusiast and use this jacket mainly for running and biking. it is just the right weight and temperature regulating. if you get too hot, all you have to do is unzip the sleeves. i love the bright yellow color - makes you visible to drivers. this comes in handy especially when doing long runs in the middle of the winter after work (when it gets dark early).
the only thing i have to say is if you like your clothes a little big then size up. i usually wear a medium, i am average in every way. i tried this jacket on in the store before i purchased it and im glad i did, i ended up ordering a large. if there is any chance you are going to layer, definitely size up. even if you just like a little room in your jacket, i would size up.

Great jacket, March 6, 2011

This is not only a jacket but, a great barrier from cold weather that can easily be converted to a vest once you've turned up the heat on a ride.

Great jacket, I want more like it, January 23, 2012
By NS
|
|
I LOVE this jacket for cycling and would buy more for general travel purposes but cannot find any in my size. The jacket fits perfectly and has all the elements you need for cycling with removable sleeves, elasctic wrist bands, mesh in the upper back, a nice warm collar and pockets (!!) which are not always available on cycling jackets. I do notice that it does get stained a bit around the wrists and collar (it does not wash out even with stain remover), but after all it is an outdoors cycling jacket (mine is screaming yellow)and some staining is to be expected, no big deal. I highly recommend this jacket for cycling and any other, e.g., travel, etc. purposes.

Comfortable and warm., January 2, 2012
By Clarinette
|
|
I decided to start biking in the winter cold, so I bought this jacket to keep my body warm. The size (S) fits me perfectly, and I love the feel of the fabric. It is very comfortable and it did keep me warm in the wind. I don't bike when it's raining, so I can't say if it is good for the rain. The green color is a bit flashier (more neon) than the picture, but it's still a beautiful green. I like the convenient pockets (front and back) and the look of the jacket when the sleeves are off. Love this jacket overall and definitely recommend it.

I purchased this jacket when the seasons changed. I'm very satisfied with it so far. It's warm without being overbearing. It works well as a top layer on cold days with heartier fabrics underneath.
