3.0 out of 5 stars.  Not perfect, April 22, 2008
By H. Huysamer (Cape Town, RSA)
I thought a socket would spread the pressure more evenly than a spanner, thus less damage. However, the socket is heavy and tilts very easily when applying force with the wrench, resulting in slipping and causing damage to the BB. Quality is very good, but if I could do it over, I'd buy the spanner.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great., January 31, 2011
By J. Gentry (New Fairfield, CT USA)
The machining on this tool is very good. Use the correct torque wrench to tighten and, like any work with a torque wrench, use your hand to assure the tool stays secure to the bottom bracket. One hand on the wrench is enough to get you to the correct torque. This isn't like tightening a bolt on an engine!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Bad Fit, April 20, 2012
By TugBoatJohn
As other reviews state, this socket tool does NOT mate well. Specifically, its splines do not seat with the groves of the BB cup. So, this product slips. Instead, skip this Park tool and buy the pricier Turvativ.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good quality bike tool, April 7, 2011

What can I say - this is a socket. It works well for installing and removing external bottom brackets by Shimano, Race Face, FSA and Hope. Nice build quality, SAE socket and open end wrench connections. A little pricey, but acceptably priced.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bottom bracket tool, February 27, 2011
By Brian Pera
Of you have a 3/8" socket wrench this is a great tool.
Recommend placing a paper towel over the bottom bracket first then this tool over it so it doesn't scratch the BB housing.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great with a torque wrench, June 21, 2010
By BJ
I bought this to install a M770 crankset. Works just fine with my beam-style 3/8" drive torque wrench. As others have mentioned, it can slip to the side a bit if you're not careful. Be sure you're installing the cups on the correct side and your threads match (right-hand tread vs. left-hand thread) and you shouldn't need much torque until the last bit of tightening. Also, keep a hand on the socket side to keep everything straight throughout the tightening process.

Very happy with the tool. It will be around for BB rebuilds and for friends to borrow for some time.

What can I say about Park tools? They work! They fit! They seem to last forever! Highly recommended! Makes working with your bottom bracket effortless and non-marring.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Tool - just a little shallow, September 21, 2009
By Martin O. Fong Kong (Hialeah, FL United States)
Got the Park BBT-19 tool so that I had the option to use a torque wrench with it. Tool works well but is a little shallow. Could easily have been 3-4mm deeper which would have made it much more stable when using. Otherwise with a little care works well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for the task, February 29, 2012
By Erik Rudd
If you wrench on your own bike and if you love GXP bottom brackets you'll need this tool in your toolbox. Be aware that this tool is steel and that the part you'll use it on is aluminum...and likely anodized a nifty color...it's very difficult to keep from marring the splines on the bearing cup but as another reviewer mentioned you can place a sheet of paper towel or straight up notebook paper over the bearing cup prior to seating the tool and it will minimize the marring. Personally I don't worry about it cause it's just cosmetic, and in my case it's a mountain bike, it's going to spend most of it's life dirty and getting dinged up..it's far more important to me that it work for it's intended purpose than whether is leaves a mark on the aluminum.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Crude but effective, December 31, 2011
By Rikdapik (LA)
Tool works fine and priced right, but needs some practice to hold square to the BB bearing holders. I have not been able to use this tool without marring the anodized finish of the cups. I wonder what the pros use?
