1.0 out of 5 stars.  Nothing new, April 05, 2013
By Amritpal Singh
It stuff you already know, nothing new is stated in the book that can possibily give you an edge. But it is quite informative if you don't know anything about dental schools.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Do NOT buy this, it's a waste, December 29, 2012
By Yogi Patel
I can't in good faith recommend this "book" to anyone interested in dentistry. As soon as I received it, I was immediately disappointed and irritated.

It's not really a book, more like a pamphlet. Of the specified 48 pages, only 18 have any sort of advice -- the rest of the book is just a listing of addresses of dental schools. Why would anyone EVER need that?

Ok, so there are 18 pages of actual advice. Well, not really. The book is printed at what I estimate to be size 20 pt font on something the size of a small notebook. It gets worse -- even of those few pages, about a quarter to a third of them are just links to websites. It's almost insulting.

Please do yourself a favor and skip this. Anyone that has ever searched for anything online could find this information immediately. And to think that one day I too will be called Dr Patel...sigh.

Here is what IS worth every penny: [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A dental plan that offers full coverage!, August 20, 2012
By Erica Blair
I initially purchased this book based on 1) my desperate need for a comprehensive scope of the dental school process, 2) its positive, though few, reviews. I have to say I was anything but disappointed.

Do you want to be noticed? Summer internship at the dentist not cutting it? Look no further than this book. Not only does it tell you how to go about applying to dental school, but it gives you the nitty-gritty on what schools are looking for, and how to stand out. Applying to dental school can be a frustrating process. Save yourself the hair pulling, emotional eating, and general distress with this book that clearly maps out different Dental tracks, outlines and discusses various programs, and even provides you with a comprehensive guide of all the dental programs in the United States. Not to mention, the author has obviously completed their dental education with painstaking focus and has somehow managed to maintain a pleasant demeanor. This aspect may be key, as rather than most dental school books, I was left feeling inspired rather than discouraged after reading it. This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone thinking seriously about Dental school, as a resource to map out your path and goals for Dental School.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great buy!, August 08, 2012
By DrMolar78
I purchased this guide for my daughter. I looked it over and this guide had all the advice I was trying to give her. Over the years the competition surely has increased but this guide definitely orients the applicant in the right direction and gives a sense of what must be done to be a serious candidate!
A must buy when first considering dental school and a wonderful career in dentistry!
