|
While many studies could ensure the initiation of periodontal regeneration using stem cells extracted from the periodontium, seeding of human periodontal ligament-derived stem cells on collagen carriers could only induce minor features of periodontal regeneration but not considerable ones when implanted in experimental periodontal defects in the athymic immunodeficient rat as could be shown in our study. However, this was not histologically analyzed.
