4.0 out of 5 stars.  Funny mystery., January 12, 2016
By Heidi Grange
I've read many fractured fairy tales, even fractured fairy tale mysteries, but none quite like this one. The tongue-in-cheek tone of the narrator add to the humor of this tale of misunderstandings and a fairy tale world that is much more gray than black and white. When Wolfgang (the big, bad wolf) is accused of trashing the houses of the three 'little' pigs, he is given until sundown to prove his innocence. With a tag along fourth little pig and his own rather doubtful detecting skills, he sets out to find the real guilty party. The details here were funny, with Cinderella turning out to be rather bossy and hard to live with and Hansel and Gretel being part time burglars (they did eat a witch's house after all), I found it amusing to try to figure out who really did the deed. I figured out the answer quite early, but younger readers aren't as likely too, although there are clues provided in the text for them to catch onto if they are paying attention. This book has more than enough silliness to be funny while still providing enough mystery to be intriguing.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Whodunnit?!, September 19, 2015
By EINSTEIN
“He’s BIG. He’s BAD. He’s...innocent?” I used to get these Three Little Pigs (Dieter, Martin, Hans), but that was a long time ago. Now the pigs are big and fat and their houses were broken into. But I didn’t do it.

Hi, I’m Wolfgang (The Big Bad) Wolf, and all I did was watch the CUBS baseball on TV. And then a very nice police officer named Captain Kreplach drags in the obvious suspect: ME! But I didn’t do it, HONESTLY. (Trust me!)

And then I see a fourth Little Bitty Pig named Ferkel, and he has an important clue: a handkerchief!?!? (For me, I use 2 handkerchiefs each day, but that’s another story.) Ferkel looks pretty smart. What can I do? We are going to crack the case. (I hope.)

And there are lots of suspects! Is it: Hansel & Gretel, Ursula, Jack, Goldilocks, Cinderella, Puss in Boots? Or is it someone else?

The book is great and the pictures were terrific! (One of them cracked me up!) 5 stars!

I hope the author/illustrator will do more. In fact, the last page says: “Like the start of a beautiful partnership”. (Does that sound like the last line of Casablanca, or what?)

Ira

P.S. --- Kreplach? I thought it was Matzo ball soup, but I guess I was wrong. But there is a soup Kreplach. (Thanks Wikipedia.) Where have I been? Another planet? I’m getting hungry!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Funny Twist on Fairytales, September 15, 2015
By A Customer
I think I'm enjoying the book more than my 6 year old. :-) We're so far only to Chapter 3 but I like it. It's a cute spin on the fairytales we all know so well.
