5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great prep for first dentist visit, April 16, 2013
By Mamma C.
I bought this for my toddler in preparation for his first dentist visit. He enjoys reading it, and it contains educational information like "brush the front, back, and biting surfaces" of the teeth. I gave him a toothbrush to brush the teeth of his toys and he practices nearly every day. The book teaches kids about the tools dentists use and details how you must open your mouth for the dentist to look at your teeth, which he does. He asks for this book by name and I'm really hoping that it will lesson the scariness of his first dentist visit.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Be prepared for the dentist, August 23, 2010
By Maisie's Mommy (Oklahoma City, OK United States)
We checked this book out at the library a few weeks before my three year old daughter's 1st dental visit. We read it several times and then like the girl in the book we brought along a stuffed animal who could open his mouth wide. We practiced counting his teeth like the girl in the book. The visit went very well, thanks to being prepared for what would happen. The book is great for little ones. I don't think you need to own it though. Just see if you can check it out at the library.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Cute, if a bit dated, October 19, 2009
By Bay Area Mommy Mentor (Los Altos, CA USA)
This book has proven very helpful in preparing my 2.5-year-old daughter for her first trip to the dentist. The pictures are realistic and detailed enough to show her the lay of the land for the dentist's office. The step-by-step description of the dental visit are also helpful. I took a star off because the book takes a lecturing tone about candy and soda, neither of which my daughter consumes in the first place, so we have to skip that part of the book. The book also describes pink mouthwash, which my daughter's dentist doesn't do, so we skip that piece as well. Overall, though, there's never going to be a one-size-fits-all book, and this book comes pretty darn close.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great intro to going to the dentist, July 30, 2009
By Camille (Houston, TX)
I bought this before my 2 yr old's first trip to the dentist. It served as a great introduction, including standard procedure: waiting in the waiting room, meeting the dental hygienist and dentist, and sitting in the chair for the exam. It also shows the tools and instruments used to clean and examine the teeth and gives brushing and general hygiene tips.

Though we don't read it every week, 1.5 yrs later it is still in her bookshelf. We still read it before and after going to dentist appointments, as well as other random times. I'm definitely glad we have it as a reference for my older daughter and plan to read it to my one year old before her first appt, whenever that is.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good book if your child is scared of the dentist., August 11, 2008
By shopaholic mommy (Vernal, UT)
My little girl has enjoyed this book. I bought it because she has to get some dental work done and is very scared. It really helped her to see that the little girl wasnt scared of the dentist. She has a pet alligator that gets its teeth cleaned and now my little girl needs one for the dentist. Overall a good purchase I think.
