Eh, I was hoping for a little better based on the reviews I read. Pictures are hard to see and it is not descriptive of going to the dentist at all. Not super impressed.

Going to the dentist can be scary especially when you’re a kid and it is still a brand new experience. The author crafted a great story complete with excellent illustrations. My granddaughter (she’s 6) loved this story and we’ve already re-read it. Definitely a must read if you have a child (or grandchild) preparing for a visit to the dentist.

First Time Must Read For New Patients, April 06, 2014

Going to the Dentist is quite frankly terrifying for me and I'm an experienced patient, think back to that first visit. Imagine all the scariness going down before our very eyes. Scary instruments of torture with complete strangers doing weird things in your mouth. This book is a must have for parents who want to avoid the trauma to their child's emotional well being. Not to mention set up PTSD for years at the thought of getting any dental work done. This book breaks it all down for kids with likable, adorable characters and illustrations full of bright colors and user friendly print. It can be a read along or a read to them, depending on the ability of your child. I have to say I loved the Mama Piranha perhaps I flatter myself to relate to her LOL. It was an overall delightful read which I will be sending my daughter for the big trip by YaYa boy is taking next month for his big first exam. So glad I found this book delightful and informative. Attention Yaya's, Nana's, Grammies, and Grandma's this is a winner. I gave it five stars and so will you.

Cute story with subtle humor and a message about caring for teeth, April 04, 2014

Most Kindle freebies aren't worth downloading, but this one turned out to be adorable. As an adult, I enjoyed the subtle humor and the playful text. It would appeal to most little ones from toddlers through early readers.
The text is pretty simple but does a good job of conveying the mood and what's going on without overwhelming. The text dances across the pages in large letters that are easy to see/read.
Baby Piranha loves to eat, but he never brushes his teeth. One day it's time to go to the dentist cave, but baby Piranha isn't so enthusiastic. I love the line, "But nobody hides from Mama Piranha". Um, yeah, that mama doesn't look like she is one to be messed with, lol. Then you have Baby Piranha timidly approaching the dentist's cave and the dentist checking his little sharp teeth with lots of "interesting tools" (I love the pizza cutter, spatula and other assorted goodies shown together in a line). After that he gets an X-ray from an electric eel. At the end of the story there there is a list: "How to join the NO CAVITY CLUB".
The illustrations are bright, bold and kind of crazy looking with lots of texture and layers. They amused me....with Baby Piranha's big eyes and his little sharp teeth, the octopus dentist and the Dentist's Cave which looks like a crumpled paper bag.
Anyway, this is a really cute book that totally grows on you. It has a good message and is perfect for little ones getting ready to go to the dentist or who need some encouragement to brush their chompers. The illustrations are kind of chaotic, and yet they are appealing at the same time. I don't usually write reviews for freebies, but this one was so cute and kind of silly and enjoyable, that I went ahead and did so. Don't miss out on this cute book!
