Based on a program of study developed at the Children's Hospital Boston, Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, Pediatric Anesthesiology Review: Clinical Cases for Self-Assessment provides essential medical information for the subspecialty of pediatric anesthesiology. Illustrating the broad spectrum of the pediatric anesthesiologist's practice, this book utilizes an interactive question and answer dialogue which imitates the simplicity of conversation and affords the reader high-yield benefits. The case-based approach encourages readers to collaborate with colleagues, improve their oral presentation skills, and prepare for challenging situations by explaining various anesthesia care plans and why specific data are required before and during the care of the pediatric patient. Written by a panel of specialists recognized internationally for their efforts in their respective areas within pediatric anesthesia and examiners for various medical specialty boards including the American Board of Anesthesiology, this self-assessment programmed text for residents, fellows, and clinicians in the field of pediatric anesthesiology offers extremely valuable advice. The ability to explain why, in addition to how, is central to the Children's Hospital Boston program's philosophy, and Pediatric Anesthesiology Review: Clinical Cases for Self-Assessment maintains this ideal in the crafting of this book. An interactive question and answer program is featured on extras.springer.com.

Good but needs some edits, December 15, 2013

Purchased this to review Peds Anesthesia. Good coverage of various topics but some questions contained some errors. I don't mind the misprints but some of the answers were indeed wrong and may have just been an editorial oversight. For example, the answer listed was B, but the discussion of the answers indicated that the real answer was E. Happened more than once. Overall, a very good review.

I read this book cover to cover in the Kindle version. I can not recommend it. Its very out of date. The format for iPad on Kindle is very confusing and hard to use. After I finished this book,I started reading another pediatric anesthesiology review book on Kindle. Much better and much more useful. There are at least two other options out there. I would try one of those first.

This book needs major revision and updating!, March 30, 2013

The letters don't correspond to the right answers. The explanations to the answers were at times not related to the questions. The format of the question is outdated including the questions/topics! This book is totally useless and frustrating! A waste of money and time! If updated/revised (errors corrected) it might be useful/helpful!

I have the kindle version, which I have done with my most recent purchases. I wanted something not so bulky to have "On the Go". The question format is nice, but not up to date with current testing modes. I find when using the "search" for specifics topics it is either very slow or at times non-functional. As with most reviews, it’s nice to see how many ways different authors can present different topics to help challenge your understanding of the material. My only real complaint would be the Kindle version, of any product should be a little more cost effective. The raw materials and time alone to produce the book version should be taken out of the equation
