I agree with the negative reviews on this book on how the authors seem very concerned with wording things in such a way that they would not be sued. However, I don't think I find it bad enough to dismiss the good information here, either. For a beginner who needs specific dosage amounts, possible side effects, and drug interactions, this book is invaluable. It is written as an encyclopedia, so in-depth knowledge on each herb is not offered. Yet, you would not (hopefully) use this book on its own. You would certainly need a book which describes each herb's unique compounds and the way those compounds work within the human body. Yet, that's not un the scope of this particular book.
I found it to be a wonderful resource. Though not a "complete" guide to herbalism, it is as complete a guide to the medicinal implications of herbs as any book I have personally found.
