This clinical manual discusses the treatment of 201 diseases with Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture. These diseases span such TCM specialties as: internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, otorhinolaryngology. The text discusses aetiology and pathogenesis, but the emphasis is laid on key points in diagnosis, differentiation of syndrome and treatment, particularly with herbal medicine.

Treatment of each disease is detailed in five parts:

  • Treatment based on differentiation syndromes
  • Patent Chinese medicines
  • Simple recipes of herbal medicines
  • Acupuncture and moxibustion
  • Other therapies

Professor Zhou is one of the foremost doctors of TCM in China. His knowledge and experience of herbal medicine are the core of this text.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Not for the beginner!, May 17, 2011
By Antnio Frederico Ribeiro de Csaro
This is a very good book indeed! But wait: Do not expect for an explanation over meridians, points, or whatever... the text leads you right into diagnosis, treatment with herbs, needling and ear acupuncture!
I've following its advices with three patients and the results are OK!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Herbal Essence, January 12, 2008
By Dr. William Morse
You'll love this book. It's simple, like me, and easy to read, understand and apply. Being "disease based" in the manner of Western Medicine and "bian bing" in the Chinese, this book invites one to easily assess proper prescriptions in a rather short time. The "Pattern Cross Reference" and "Formulae and Constituent Herb" sections are invaluable.

It is a Professionally oriented book, but has some value to lay persons.
