I had also the next book "Energetics in Acupuncture", by Radha, which is more detailed. Both of them help me in my every day practice successfully. Maybe the " Cosmetic Acupuncture" should be written more in detailed. Anyway, it was her first book! The second is definitely, the best. Every Acupuncturist who practices really the TCM, MUST have both these books. For me, The author Radha Tambirajah has added a treasure in the TCM. Congratulations to her! Hope she will continue

Approach With Caution, February 26, 2013

Acupuncture works not just for aches and pains. It can work for a variety of systemic conditions. Cosmetic acupucnture? This one is new to me, so I decided to give this book a try.
Of course, systemic conditions can affect the appearance of one's skin condition. Many skin and "cosmetic" conditions in this book are actually covered in general acupuncture clinical manuals. Author Radha Thambirajah explains various conditions using standard TCM models. It may serve as a quick revision for those who have lost touch with basic principles, but the majority of practising acupuncturists might have wanted the author to go straight to the point.
The book only gets uniquely and justifiably "cosmetic" towards the end. Most books on general acupuncture treatment don't deal with conditions like balding, sagging skin, cellulite, wrinkles, eye shadows and even small breasts! Naturally, every acupuncturist would be curious about what secrets the author has to share. I have tried some of these treatments on myself as well as on friends and family and the results are nothing to shout about. As acupuncturists, I think we must be very careful when we charge patients for these beauty treatments.
I think I would feel much safer treating a "cosmetic" condition that is realed to some obvious systemic syndromes.

Simple elegance, February 05, 2009

Elegant in the simplicity of its application and balance. From the symbiotic relationship of the yin/yang to the scholarly dedication to the principles of TCM, this work is done right. For a subject that can easily "numb" a reader when poorly formatted this book employs an even-handed approach that engages the reader as if the author were present. The essence of delivering any discipline coherently without drift, or paling is an authors skill I have always admired. My initial forays into the deep waters of acupuncture study would have been more easily navigable had this been my primer. The specific of cosmetic theme seems woven artfully and seamlessly in the tapestry of acupunctures holistic cloth. The compact architecture is further evidence of the elegance of presentation.
