Product Description: |

Focusing rails are essential accessories for macro photography, which requires precise distance modifications and a steady hand, as well as other situations where accurate camera positioning is crucial. Two 6" rails allow movement in four directions, right, left, forward and backward. Mounts on, and accepts 1/4 thread screws, and it will fit most tripods and stands. Positive locking knobs assure rock-steady focus. This excellent quality rail is for use with all digital and film SLR cameras and is compatible with most Canon, Nikon, Minolta and Pentax macro and EOS bellows, macro shot extension tubes, or macro lenses such as the Canon FD and FL.

Arrived Damaged, January 29, 2016

I purchased this as a "very good" item from Warehouse Deals. It arrived with a bent knurled set screw and missing positioning arrows. Will have to return it. I did not have the option to get a replacement. Otherwise, the product would have been fine.

Very solid unit. I feel very confident in this purchase. All-metal construction is smooth and sturdy., January 03, 2016

Notes:
I tested this with a Canon 60D, Tamron 90mm Macro lens and Manfrotto tripod and head
* Affixes to camera and tripod in less than a minute.
* Whole thing adds 3.5 inches to the height of the rig so be sure to account for that.
* Action in both directions feels extremely solid. Can adjust the tension with a smaller screw to introduce as much resistance as you need
Purchased an Amazon marketplace for full price and extremely satisfied.

Good value, but not fine instrument, January 03, 2016

Great value, and I highly recommend it as an "on the cheap" focus rail. But it's not a fine instrument capable of tiny smooth movements.
The biggest issue is the bed sags as it moves so it's harder and harder to move as it extends.
And if it is off horizontal it will slide unless the drag screw is slightly tight. But it, too, is of low tolerance so slightly tight and too loose or too tight is hard to adjust.
Don’t misundestand. For the price, it's very serviceable and worth the money. But don’t expect to get a $1300 Monfroto jewel.
