This was my first DSLR, I recently sold it to upgrade to Canon T1i. If you're new to photography, you'll love this camera. It's not perfect, however it has great settings and lens options. For the price it will blow your portable digitals out of the water. I've seen the e620, it's good by comparison, if you want to get more professional, consider Nikon D7000 or D5100 and above to take your photography to the next level.
