Bad news, trash can is too small. Good news, having to empty the trash can so often may prevent over heating of motor as it cools down while you dump the shreds. I use my shredded paper for packing material. I like that the top has a little cutout where I can tear off stapled corners and toss them in with the shredded paper rather than having to throw the corners away in another trash can. The top has an extension on the right, so I could use a larger trash bin if I wanted to. Right now I have a ton of shredding to do but eventually there will be only occasional shredding, so the small bin size is not a problem for me. Since it also shreds cards and CD's, this is a good shredder at a fair price for home use. Office might want at least a larger bin.

The micro switch which senses paper being inserted permits paper to get behind the toggle arm which causes it to not operate. Fixing the problem requires disassembling the head unit to remove the jam, about a 15 minute operation. I had the shredder about six month before the first occurrence, then about six months later it happened twice in succession. Now it's in the dumpster.

 found shredding 2 pieces at a time works good. haven't fried a cd or credit card yet, March 18, 2015

had a lot of shredding to do.. tried 8 sheets of paper and it jammed took an hour to clean it out . after shredding for awhile motor got hot and shut down, thought i broke it but when it cooled down it starting working again. found shredding 2 pieces at a time works good. haven't fried a cd or credit card yet.

This is the fourth shredder I have had, but only the first one that has held up. I've had it for abut 5 years and it just chugs along doing what shredders are supposed to do. It may not be the fastest or largest-capacity device, but I am completely happy with it. I think it was worth every penny that I paid for it.

I have had this for a couple of years now and still works fine. Its has stopped working a couple of time but I just unplugged it and let it off for about an hour and plug it back again to use. It doesnt take heavy loads.

This item was bought back in June 2014 and was used about 10 times before it completely stopped working. Now it is to late to return it and I am stuck with a shredder that does not work. I have had owned many shredders in my life, this was the worst by far. It ran loud and oftened jamed with just 3 papers in it. It also overheated everytime we used it. Don't waste your money.
