1.0 out of 5 stars.  Useless and Misleading, June 06, 2014
By - Mike (Plano, TX)
HMOs can be profitable if handled in a certain way. The ways they are handled may raise questionable ethics. I was looking for a book to gave details to allowable billing codes that are considered inclusive when dealing with PPOs but not with HMOs. I found a lecture on how unethical PPOs are and wonderfully for the public HMOs are since they "don't encourage overtreatment". Obviously the author never saw an HMO fee schedule. They pay NOTHING for preventive or fillings so there is drastic pressure financially for the dentist to over treat. It is one thing for a book to be out of date. I suspect this book was propaganda by Insurance corporations for public consumption.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The Best book on Dental Plan management!, February 22, 2002
By Josias Costa, DDS - Dental Director (Brazil)
Dr. Don Mayes was able to represent in a excellent way the knowledge requirements for a professional management of dental care. I have read you book many times and also used it as a parameter for the development of the first commercial dental plan with capitation concept in Brazil, the second largest private health market in the world. I am looking forward reading your next and most modern edition, with a lots of new informmation about the dental plan management.
