Meet Pookster and Bubs in this delightful new children series that makes learning the fruits of the Spirit loads of fun! Turning real life lessons into practical life applications-author Rhonda Funk brings to life God's Word in a way any young child can relate. In The Adventures of Pookster and Bubs - Pookster and the Unloose Tooth, children learn patience and what it means to wait on God's timing. Pookster is a little girl who just happens to think that teeth are highly overrated and that keeping them in too long can be hazardous to your health. Bubs is her big brother who would be perfectly okay if a tooth NEVER came loose! Pookster prays each night that God would help her lose her teeth, but apparently He has something different in mind. Taking matters into her own hands one crazy night, Pookster and her big sister decided that her un-loose tooth COULD come out with a little help. What happened next, (to the horror of Bubs) was a tooth extraction of a slamming door kind- and a real life opportunity to sing All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth. Spring has sprung, Easter has come and gone, but Pookster hasn't seen much of her two front teeth. She's TIRED of eating apples and leaving rows, or eating her spaghetti noodles and not being able to cut them off. Now she's begging for God to bring back her chompers. It's funny, she wanted so badly to lose them, but now she just really wants them back! Too bad Pookster has to learn the hard way that sometimes it’s better to wait on God than it is to do things on your own! The Adventures of Pookster and Bubs is a new fantastic way to encourage children to apply God's Word to their lives. Lesson by lesson kids will learn from the mishaps of Pookster and Bubs, and what it means to make good choices and how to practice obedience. We're all looking for fun ways to teach our children about God. We're also looking for something to play in the car that won't drive us crazy! Singer/Songwriter and Publicist Rhonda Funk has opened up a whole new door to learning that even parents will find entertaining. Sunday school teachers will love the practical application and the way kids relate to the stories, and parents will love the adventures as they relate to their own children and household. The 5-9 year old will most enjoy this series. Complete with an audio narration by the author, this series features the voices of Rylee and Ryan Funk (Rhonda's own children-the original Pookster and Bubs) as they tell one hilarious story after another. Such a likeable series-you'll be waiting on the next release!

Pooks the wild tooth puller, December 17, 2011

Do you struggle with patience? Who doesn't right? Well how do we get children to understand the character of being patient when they are generally anything but patient? Rhonda Funk addresses the lesson of patience in her book about brother sister duo, Pookster and Bubs. Bubs is one of those rare kids who doesn't mind waiting for things, say like loose teeth to fall out. Pookster has loose teeth out of her mouth in 45 mins from the time if first wiggles! Pookster certainly doesn't understand Bubs patience with such important things like loose teeth.
Pookster wants her 2 front teeth gone for Christmas so she can sing the famous song and mean it! Will determination to succeed be what Pookster had wished for? Patience is going to sneak in there somewhere and probably when Pookster leasts expects it!
Rhonda records the book on cd for children to go the old fashioned way of listening to books on 'tape' and changing the page at the tone :) But.. it wont be necessary to use that because parents are going to want to read this book. It is humorous and has lots of AHHH moments for Mom and Dad to share with the kiddo's. Great job Rhonda! Looking forward to more of Pooksters antics in upcoming books!!

a cute book on patience, September 17, 2011

Almost all children who get a loose tooth become impatient to get it out whether they believe in the tooth fairy or not, it's like a rite of passage, get the tooth out at the first wiggle. Using verse Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." to tie in the theme of patience brings a wonderful story back to the Lord.
Colorfully and cartoonish-ly illustrated this book will appeal to all ages, all three of my children enjoyed and I even found myself enjoying the pictures and the story as well. I can still remember the time that I had a very loose tooth and I wanted it out - so my dad tied it with string or maybe it was dental floss to the foot of the rocking chair and had one of my brother's rock it. The tooth stayed in but I was in a lot of pain. If only I'd had Pookster and Bubs to teach me the value of being patient when waiting for a tooth to fall out.
This paperback book comes with an audio CD that is narrated by the author, Rhonda Funk with help from Ryan and Rylee Funk. This is such a well done accompaniment to the book, the background music isn't overpowering and it provides just the right amount of mood for the story. It's perfect for listening to in the van on long trips or even short trips. Oh and for anyone who is wondering, there is no tooth fairy just praying to God and learning to let Him remove the tooth.
**I was given a copy of this book from Bring It On! Communications in exchange for my honest opinion, no other compensation was given.

Pookster and the Unloose Tooth by Rhonda Funk Pookster could hardly wait to for her two front teeth to come loose because she wanted so bad to sing Pookster could hardly wait to for her two front teeth to come loose because she wanted so bad to sing "All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth. And well, it finally happened. Then she really wasn't so happy that she was toothless. This is such a cute book about a child loosing teeth, and the importance of letting them fall out on their own. Being on a child's level of learning, the young reader can identify losing a tooth with the need to be patient and wait on the Lord. This is a very well written little story and with the awesome comic pictures and fonts use, this makes a loveable teaching story that will surely capture the interest of any young reader. The words are clear enough that any child can understand them...and the pictures are great enough that children can understand the story through pictures. I really can't say enough about this adorable book! I think you fill fall in love with it just as I did! And you even get a CD to go along with it. It just doesn't get any better than this!! I recommend this book to any family with young children, because all children are going to lose their teeth at some time, and what child doesn't need to be taught patience

I love that they are written by a christian mother and the audio book is handy in the car. My girls laughed while I read the book, but they could also pick out the important lesson the story told. The illustration are delightful and the each book ends with a Bible verse. This book series is a creative way to teach your children about the fruits of the Spirit.

Adorable!, February 28, 2011

Pookster just cannot wait until her two front teeth come out. She's willing to go to any lengths to be able to sing 'All I Want for Christmas' and mean it. But with only a few weeks left until Christmas to what lengths will she be willing to go? Or will she be willing to wait for 'God's time' as her mother's suggested?
My Thoughts: What a laugh! A terrific lesson in patience that will have you and the kids giggling at Pookster's antics. My daughter adored it! ... except now she's afraid of floss and doorknobs...

My daughter helped me review this book. She read it by herself and also listened to the CD. She loved this book! The pages were colorful and the print was big and easy to read. She learned about sharing and this book has a wonderful way of teaching that concept! It was even more special because she has her first loose teeth this week! :) Two teeth loose at the same time! She was able to really connect to this book.
