the most captivating stories are also the most fun to read aloud, January 12, 2016

As an elementary school librarian, I've read gobs of books to classes over the years and, as a rule of thumb, the most captivating stories are also the most fun to read aloud. Despite all the glowing reviews, Sweet Tooth fails to satisfy my criteria for a worthwhile read-aloud book. In this particular instance, Palatini's lack of succinctness warrants 2 stars(and that's generous). For comparison, The Boy Who Looked Like Lincoln(Mike Reiss & David Catrow) exemplifies a read-aloud masterpiece that ideally suited for a third grade audience.

I am a K-5 Library Media Specialist and this is one of my top two favorite read-aloud books. A VERY funny book for both kids and adults.

I loved dramatizing the story as I read it aloud to my 4&6 year old grandsons. They reacted with joy and learned a lesson about their teeth. Oldest wants to share book with his kindergarten class.
