My brother (who is now 40) got this book as a kid and my mom still has it. My kids love when my mom reads it to the but after 35+ years in the basement and hundreds of hours of handling by small hands the binding gave way. I was so excited to find a copy on Amazon. The Chippy books were a big part of my childhood.

I searched for this book because it was a childhood favorite among my siblings and I. Our babysitter bought us a set of three "Happy Ending Book"s and those are the only three books in our childhood collection that have the potential to cause a fight over ownership. This series, written with care by Jane Carruth and beautifully illustrated by Tony Hutchings, is a must for little ones. The stories will comfort a young child who is experiencing similar milestones as the title characters. The title of this particular book says it all, "Chippy Goes to the Dentist." The story is meant to calm the fears of a child who faces a looming visit to the dentist. Carruth's words are complemented by Hutching's detailed and soothing artistry.
The books in this series were written with careful consideration of a child's need to feel that others have faced similar circumstances and come out the other side just fine.
I love this series. I would recommend any of the books in it, as I'm carefully collecting as many as I can!

I loved that I found this book, it was my daughter's favorite when she was little so it seemed important to have the same for her daughter. I would have preferred the full sized book and did not notice that this was a little book but probably would have gotten it anyway. Now, if I could only find "I Love You More" which was her 2nd favorite book...

Chippy Goes to the Dentist, May 02, 2000

My daughter loves this book! We read this book many times when she was two. It talks about the importance of brushing, especially after eating candy and a visit to the dentist. It really prepared my daughter for her first visit at the dentist at the age of 3. She was excellent. My dentist and his employees loved her, she even had her teeth cleaned. Being in the medical field, I love these type of books that prepare children for the unexpected! I highly recommend this book!
