This is such an informative book in all areas. It is small enough to keep discreetly in my exam room and is a great reference. Definitely a must for dental hygiene students!!

I'm starting to finish up dental hygiene school and I wish I had this little book from the beginning! It' s a great reference for clinic and for boards and I can definitely see myself using it in private practice. I wish there was a section on radiology but the publishers put that in the Dental Assisting Notes. They packed a ton into this little booklet and they used great references (recognized associations and organizations and most every DH book I own for school). There are super helpful charts and pictures (especially for local anesthesia). This pocket guide includes: principles of dental hygiene, ethics, process of care, premed, BLS and medical emergencies, infection control, intra- and extraoral assessments, eruption dates, dentition and occlusion, G.V. Black, medically compromised patients, medications, anesthesia (drugs and administration), pathology, instrument designs and techniques, fulcrums, sharpening, dental/medical terminology and conditions, web-based resources, and even basic dental/medical questions and directives in Spanish! The sections are tabbed and color-coded for easy reference. It has a super handy index and waterproof pages. You can even write on the pages in ballpoint pen and wipe it off later with an alcohol swab! It's also OSHA and ADA compliant so it's safe to use. It's about an inch thick, as wide as a sticky note, and as tall as an index card (not including the spiral rings at the top). I've already recommended this to first and second year students and my school faculty. The only hitch is that it was published in 2011. Everything seems pretty up to date to me (except BLS is still ABC instead of CAB) but I would definitely buy any update that they put out.
