Wow!!!!!, April 12, 2014

Steak tartar originated with the Tartar hordes during the reign of Genghis Khan -- a piece of raw beef was placed between the saddle and the horse's back, and became tenderized over the course of 8 or 10 hours of heavy galloping across the Eurasian steppes. The author's premise with this book is similar. Instead of brushing, flossing, and regular checkups, he posits that the proactive, contemporary dentist's role is to sit on a patient's head and simluate the motion of a galloping horse for lengthy stretches of time, in order to make the mouth a much less hospitable environment for cavity-causing bacteria via pressure and friction. It's a revolutionary idea only now just coming into its time. Bravo!

This book is an excellent comprehensive guide on how to run your dental practice. It provides some very useful tips and tricks that can be used to boost your patient base. Mixed in is some great anecdotal pointers about how the author ran his practice and on top of this it is really easy to read.

Before starting dental school in Hungary, I ventured to cary out a voluntary work experience at a local dental practice in England. Here the dentist gave me this book as a parting gift and recommend it was a great read. Upon dwelling into the book, I was immediately captivated, by the great points that were emphasised. A book which is very well written and easy to read, didn’t allow me to put it down. I believe it has provided my self with a great mindset to maintain whilst studying and practicing dentistry and running a practice. Overall well greatly comprehended, with fantastic detail to portray everything clearly.
A great read for all those in dentistry, including dental students and especially practice owners wanting to improve their clinic. Not just a great buy, but certainly a lifelong investment.

The title caught my eye, but the read held my attention. I have referred to this book many times, when considering my place within a team, my leadership of a team and assessing team strategy in times of change.
Most of all I am struck by its transferable messages that fit any team model, though it is composed for harmony in Dental Practice I have applied Michaels ideas in other environments to great effect.
This is a must have book on the shelf of any team leader, but be prepared to have a spare, in case you lend yours out and it finds a place on any team members shelf too.
