Product Description:

In recent years, great advances in translational research have led to new paradigms in the treatment of cancers of the head and neck. Written by leading international physicians and investigators, this innovative multi-disciplinary book presents the most up-to-date research and clinical approaches. Coverage is given to progress in a variety of clinical settings, including programs of organ and function preservation, curative treatments, unresectable disease, adjuvant treatments in high-risk patients, andrecurrent/metastatic disease. Complementary to the techniques of surgery, radiotherapy, and systemic treatments, the authors present data on epidemiology, molecular pathology, normal tissue complications, rehabilitation, palliative care, and treatment in the elderly. State-of-the-art functional imaging is elucidated; and the latest developments in high precision techniques in irradiation, sequencing of chemo- and radiotherapy, as well as the integration of biomolecular therapies into cytotoxic treatments are explored.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Head & Neck Oncology, September 24, 2013

Title: Head & Neck Cancer

Reviewer: Joseph J Grenier MD PhD

Head & Neck Cancer is a comprehensive detailed textbook for Head and Neck surgeons which is going to prove to be the gold standard for all head & neck oncology books published. It is easily the best book out there on this subject. The authors go into the etiology, genetics, proteonomics, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, management, rehabilitation, and palliation of all the common and more obscure forms of cancer in this region.

Diagnostic imaging involving CT, MRI, PET, & NMR are all covered in separate chapters. It is not an atlas of head & neck surgery so do not expect this. Instead expect coverage of molecular therapy, immunotherapy, brachytherapy, proton beam therapy, and intensity modulated conformal 3D therapy. This is a really great textbook for the price and it is a welcome addition to my library on Otorhinolaryngology.
