5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent on iMagic Trainer, October 8, 2009
By Visit my Amazon Profile page! (Bay Area, CA)
I used to use my old worn out tires on the I-Magic and wear them into oblivion to get everything but the oink out of them. However, they would slip and get bald spots and ride unevenly pretty fast and it made riding on the trainer less than stellar.

I figured I would give the Tacx tire a chance, and it is much much better than the old tire discards. It is really grippy and yet durable, doesn't run hot, gives excellent traction and is more quiet. It rides with a lower frequency hum and gives a more 'road-like' feel because it's not slipping at all.

I can't recommend the I-Magic (Fortius or the old one) from Tacx strongly enough, and this tire is a good one for those VR trainers.

UPDATE 8/10/11

I've done many many miles on the trainer, and the tire just failed tonight. I think this is a lot of miles for the one tire, and shows it is as good as I espected or better. The current Amazon price of just over $30 is much better than the price I paid from Niagara cycle works when I got the first one. Definitely a great tire for indoor use on the trainer!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Its just OK!, November 18, 2011
By jachlopecki
I got Tacx trainer tire as a cheaper alternative to the Continental trainer tire I used for about 2 winter seasons on my Computrainer. When I first put it on I thought it was super sticky and figured it would grip like crazy. Started my ride and at lower speeds found it to be pretty quiet. After the trainer warmed up and I calibrated it, the grip seemed to go down and the noise level went up. I will usually have to really crank down on the wheel tension (regardless of tire pressure) to get a really good grip but doing that just makes the thing scream when I really crank up the speed and it just doesn't feel like the tire responds as well to resistance changes during a ride like the Continental does. I think once this one wears out I will be spending the extra few dollars and going back to the Conti.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good product., December 27, 2010

I have been totally satisfied with this tire on my trainer. It is definitely quieter than my old used road tires and seems to last much longer. It does leave lots of residue on the roller, but I just clean regularly.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Well worth the price, May 3, 2012
By 2K
I used my regular road tire (Continental Grand Prix) for the first few rides and it left thick rubber blotches on the roller. When I finally installed it, the trainer tire actually cleaned the roller and runs very smooth. Much quieter and no slipping compared to the road tire. I've only ridden the trainer tire for about 20 hours but it is working like a champ. Great value so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Trainer Tire - Works Well, February 13, 2012
By J. Huensch
Bought this trainer tire to place on my Hybrid bike so I could ride in the winter without having to place my Road Bike on the trainer. The tire I replaced on my hybrid was a knobby 28mm, so it made all kinds of noise on the roller. This tire helped solve that problem since its smooth. And now I'm not wearing out any of my expensive road tires.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Didn't last long. Worst I've ever used., February 10, 2012
By Bill Shirer (Dallas, Texas United States)
I bought this tire in June 2011, and didn't start using it until December. The first thing that I noticed was that there was a very thick wax buildup that would accumulate on the the roller that came off the tire. There was a lot of this waxy substance. Then after about a month of use, I noticed that blue portions of the tire were sticking to the roller. It's now Mid February, and the tire developed a bubble right in the center of the tread, so the tire is completely unusable. In total, the tire has 2.5 months of use. On average, I rode about 6-7 hrs indoors at an average speed of 20mph. The tire has about 60-70 hours on it, or about 1,200 to 1,400 miles on it.

I've used various tires that have been specially designed for indoor rollers, and this has been the worst of the bunch. I've never had a tire wear out this quick.
