Great concept, poor execution, September 15, 2007
By sandy10m (Berkeley CA United States)

I bought this scooter 2 weeks before college started so that I would have plenty of time to get it ready for use. However, it's now 3 weeks into college, and it's still in pieces. Let's start at the beginning. There was shipping damage when I unloaded the scooter, but it was a cracked plastic fender and a bent piece of metal, which would probably get damaged the first time the scooter fell over anyway, so I wasn't too worried. Then I had to put the scooter together, which was not an easy feat single-handed. It probably took 3 times as long because I didn't have a buddy helping me. This is something they don't tell you. There were a few pieces of hardware missing, like washers, but I went into the garage and dug up a few, no problem. I charged the batteries and waited in anticipation for the big moment when I would ride my speedy scooter. However, it barely went faster than a brisk walk. I emailed the tech support, and it took 3 days for an answer. My guess is that these 360's are so badly manufactured that they have so many things wrong with them, and tech support is overwhelmed. They told me to check the volts of the batteries. I had to buy a voltmeter, but I did that. They checked good. Then they said it was the power controller, and they would send me a new one. They were on back order, so it took about a week. I installed the new controller, and the motor ran in reverse instead. Another email and another 3 days later they told me how to switch two of the wires. Now it ran forward--yahoo. I took it out for a spin, and it went much faster, for about 5 blocks, and then it just quit, dead, and I had to push it home. Another 3-day email and I was told it was the wrong version controller. Another week, and I had a new correct controller, which once installed had the same terrible performance as the original controller. Another 3-day email and now they claimed the batteries were bad again. They gave me instructions on how to remove them, and I had to almost completely disassemble the scooter to get at them. The batteries go in the mail tomorrow, at my expense, and we'll see what they tell me next. I decided not to wait anymore to post this review since I had seen enough. BOTTOM LINE: the 360 scooter is a FANTASTIC CONCEPT with lots of safety features, but it is not well made. If there is anything wrong with it, you are in for a LONG adventure. You are better off paying more for a simpler scooter that works. I test-drove the I-Zip and the Go-Ped for comparison, and even though the batteries were only partially charged at the dealership, the scooters went twice as fast as my 360. The X-treme tech support folks were always polite, but they were nearly impossible to reach. Waiting 3 days between replies is ridiculous. So, there's my review. I hope it helps.

Do Not Buy this Scooter, October 28, 2008
By Scooterless (Chicago, IL)

Do Not Buy this Scooter. We purchased ours in May 2008 - stopped working just after the 90 day warranty offered by Urban Scooter. Replaced the Controler in September - worked for 2 more weeks - broke again and guess what x-treme scooters does not offer warranty on parts.
The 360 is a total piece of junk - an expensive non returnable piece of junk

Do not buy this scooter!, December 20, 2007
By John Mcisac (Boston, Ma)

I bought two of these for Christmas and they are horrible. They barely fit together, they have the worst directions I have ever seen. Parts arrived that were cracked and the battery cover has a lock but the cover doesn't fit so it slide off any way. X-treme Scooters is the worst place to buy anything but especially these scooters. Stay away from these and them!

Don't buy anything from this company. It will break within weeks and they won't support it. They are cheap Chinese made products and they don't know how to repair them or diagnose problems.

Problems, July 6, 2007
By Arthur J. Decosta (Belleview, Florida)
|
|
Recieved scooter and unit had a bent wheel. This caused scooter to have a bouncie ride. Recieved a new wheel X-Treme in about a week. The Brake was smaller causing unit not to stop. X-Treme sent new assembly. I have spent 2 weeks waiting for parts and doing all the labor myself. I personally don't think that's right for a new unit. I would stay away from this unit unless your mechanically inclined.

I purchased 3 of these scooters 2 years ago. They were buy 2 get 1 free. I sold the third to help pay for the 2. Anyway, I have had them now for two years. We are seasonal campers at a large campground. My daughter rides them regularly with her friends, as do I. I have had very little problems outside of routine maintenance with them. Overall, they were a very good purchase and we look forward to getting to camp and jumping on them. You do need to perform maintenance on them however. They are machines and need to be treated as such. To the people with speed problems, check your chain, shouldnt be too tight. Oil your axles. Clean them regularly. Use common sense and they will last you for awhile. Like I said, two years running, hard use, and I am looking forward to the weekend to ride them. Good luck!

Complete Junk "Do not buy!", August 28, 2009
By Brandon C. Uffelman
|
|
I bought the X360 in July 2009 for my 15 year old son and have had nothing but problems. Week 1: Bad ignition (scooter would lose power every time it went over a bump), Week 2: bad controller, scooter would not run at all. A couple of weeks after i complained i received "used" replacement parts in the mail with no instructions. I spent a couple of hours and replaced both and it solved those problems. Same day as that repair, back wheel started to wobble and motor started to skip and will only drive it about 5 miles per hour and make loud noises and smoke. I asked to return the scooter for a refund (mind you i've only had it for about 30 days at this point and its worked properly for maybe 2 days out of the 30) and the next day i received an email with a form letter response indicating that only scooters that have never been ridden are eligible to return. i should have known better when i saw it only comes with a 30 day warranty. Also i need to mention that the headlight stopped working week 1, the handle bar assembly wobbles, and the seat is broken. What a complete piece of junk. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

Piece of junk horrible customer sevice, December 3, 2010
By Michael Gentry

|
Like many others my box was delivered damaged and the inner packing foam broken. After putting it together I attempted to turn it on only to have a completely dead battery which the manual said never to do for damage to the battery if you did... So, I attempt to charge it and come to find the charger input on the chassis loose and basically broken. I attempt to tighten and the crews and assembly are broken and got an electric fireworks show doing it...
Customer service sucks.
CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP product!

JUNK!!!, January 25, 2009
By Christine Baldizzi (Lake Wylie, SC)
|

BUYER BEWARE!!! Made of inferior parts using cheap Chinese labor. Delivered with undecipherable instructions and dirty, broken parts. Handlebar assembly will wobble even with everything tight. Ours came DOA and the pink color advertised is really red. We were one of the lucky ones who received a full refund. Many horror stories out there with the buyer stuck with no recourse. This was bought for our 9 year old daughter. No way would I feel comfortable with her riding this POS. We invested in a Currie E-900-much better scooter.

Xtreme Scooter as a present, December 15, 2009
By A. M. Pyle (CARROLLTON, TX, US)

|
I purchased this scooter for my 12 year old daughter for her birthday. She was very surprised and very happy. However, we are experiencing some problems with the charging of the scooter. It also came somewhat assembled.. there is assembly required and directions are not real clear. Should take about an hour or so to put all together. Very happy with scooter and its functions... loud horn, blinker alerts, brake lights and headlight and does go pretty fast. Only thing I wished it had was an adjustable seat for height.

Got hit by a truck, April 22, 2011
By TwiztidTif
|
|
When I received the package the 1st thing I noticed was there was dog poop on the box, when I took the scooter out nuts, bolts & screws fell out on the floor, there was no installation guide, warranty or pamphlets. So I decided to try to put it together the best I can piece by piece. Well it seems that half this stuff was already put together(incorrectly)& there were quite a few things missing that I needed to finish putting it together(I ended up buying out of my own pocket). When I finally got it together the best I could, I plugged it in & there was an electrical problem because the lights werent goin on & the power switch didnt work aswell as a no horn or seat. when I got it together the best I could it worked for about a week, during that week the brakes, throttle, etc.. just stopped working while I was riding & to conclude this story I got hit by a delivery truck & suffered physically & mentally aswell, x-treme said they don't send out default equipment, and amazon said it was a brand new straight out of the factory when that was not the case at all seeing as how half was already put together, I would recommend a razor scooter or anything else but an x-treme, they do look the prettiest but as for longevity, forget about it.... This scooter sucks ! Don't let the looks fool you ! Its "x-treme"ly dangerous !

x-treme 360 electric scooter, February 22, 2011
By santa monica mom
|
|
My husband and I purchased this scooter for our son's birthday. He really wanted this particular scooter and not the RAZOR (although the Razor scooter brand reviews are much better).
My husband assembled the scooter using much care... it does not go together very well. After several attempts some pieces are just "too loose". Not only do the loose pieces cause concern but the fact that in mid ride the scooter's power supply just turns off... FOR NO REASON! Sadly now our son has an expensive gift that he is not allowed to use. What a waste of money!!!!
I do not recommend this product.

It's OK, but would not purchase another one..., February 10, 2011
By Cathy B (Texas)
|
|
I have to agree with the other less-than stellar reviews that have been written. As one reviewer stated, it is a great concept, just not good execution on the part of the manufacturer. We have had these scooters (2) for just over a year. They were a bear to put together. As my husband and I were putting them together for our girls, I thought that I'd never buy one again. For what we needed - a fun scotter to ride around the neighborhood - it was just too much work. Unless you are a bicycle / motor cycle enthusiast, putting it together and adjusting it properly will be a little difficult.
The positives: They look great and my kids do have fun riding them.
The cons: So many parts and pieces to put the thing together... one scooter had electrical issues out of the box. Still have not fixed it as it does not affect the actual ride of the scooter. The scooter just does not feel that stable. I tinker with them all the time; tightening things, etc. I know that some of this is normal wear and tear, but I have never felt super confident with this scooter.
I just ordered an eZip 750 from Currie. It should arrive tomorrow. I'm hoping that this new scooter will be better. I decided to try one before I replaced both of the scooters we currently own. I'll post back when I've had a chance to assess the new scooter.
Update - The eZip 750 arrived and it was a breeze to put together. It seems very sturdy and needed very little adjusting out of the box. Personally, I feel this is a much better scooter than the x360. The kids like the lights and horn, etc. on the x360, but honestly, those things are minor add-ons that don't come close to making the x360 a decent choice.
Just yesterday, our black x360 that has always had electrical problems, horn and lights have never worked, stopped altogther. The kids say one of their friends turned the key too far and then it wouldn't start. I can see the ignition is turning too far, but I'm not sure if that is the problem. I'll order a new ignition and see if that works. The eZip has no key or ignition, so that is one less thing to break.
As much as I want to like the x360, it has been more trouble than it's worth. I would recommend an eZip from Currie.

I apparently dodged a bullet, December 29, 2010
By yellokat (Brooklyn, NY USA)

Although I haven't had nearly the difficulties many others have had with this scooter, I certainly wish I had read these reviews before I purchased an X360. I bought one for my partner for Christmas, as she has been wanting a Vespa for years. I thought we should first be sure that she will enjoy and really use a scooter before spending a lot of money, so I bought this one as a test.
I was fortunate to have the help of a guy who is very handy to put the thing together. He told me that it was a hassle and that the instructions were unclear. As some other reviewers have described, he had a lot of difficulty getting the rear rack and trunk installed and he has yet to get the turn signals to work. He is pretty confident that he can figure it out, though, once he has enough time to tinker with them. Our immediate goal was to get the thing assembled in time for Christmas morning, so we left the turn signal problem for another day.
My partner and I took the scooter out on Christmas Day when there was little traffic and it worked really well on residential streets. We live in New York City, where there are bike lanes, so we took turns riding the X360 in the bike lanes and we felt quite safe. (And I made sure to buy a good helmet too.) The terrain is mostly flat, so we haven't tried using it on hills yet. Speed was not problem. The X360 zippped right along. Overall, it was a lot of fun and she is looking forward to using it more once spring rolls around.
One other thing that we like about it is that it's easy to charge. Just plug it into the wall and in a couple of hours it's ready to go. And it does seem to run for a long while before it needs to be recharged. As far as I can tell, it does last the 20 miles promised in the company literature.
Now, having read all of these bad reviews, I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am one of the lucky few who happened to get one of the scooters that is not a lemon.

If anyone wants to throw away money this is the best way to do it. even for a child this product is a joke. The people I ordered from sent some parts and left out the battery charger. I had to repair two flats. One was on the scooter and had never been rode.the product itself is plastic and machined horrably. Good wast of money.

Ok but....., September 1, 2010

Ok, it's fun, I think it's dorky and cool at the same time, but it can't take me up a hill. I weigh 150 and it can't do it, I have to put my legs down and run like Fred Flintstone. It malfunctions quite a bit, and it holds a charge like it's running on triple a's. Love how it looks, but I'm buying a ruckus tomorrow.

Anyone reading the reviews can see this product is a cruel, expensive trick. Why does Amazon continue to carry it? There must be those who buy without reading the reviews. Just to make this product available on Amazon is to diminish Amazon's credibility.

RAN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR TOTAL, June 5, 2010
By Buyer remorse (Florida)
|
|
Bought this scooter September 2008 for teenage daughter, she rode around the neighborhood for about an hour and had to push it home. Indicator lights were on, but would not run. Called and had to order batteries, of all things, batteries never came. Email and call the company about once a month, its been since October 2008 and haven't had a response from the company, paid for the batteries that never came. For the past 20 months the scooter is sitting on the back lanai collecting dust, it really was a great looking scooter, but completely useless. Will never order from this company again. Need to just throw it away, wouldn't be fair to sell it to anyone else, because of its uselessness.

Buyer beware, December 23, 2009
By Kathy Reardon (Florida)

|
I recently purchased this scooter for my 11yr old for Christmas. He wanted a scooter so bad, so we searched and found this one. Beware....it looks great, and is appealing for a young child, but the construction of this item is very poor! The instructional booklet is barely readable and hard to understand. It never did address how to charge or not charge and for how long. I had to return the first one because parts did not fit. Before you buy this product go to other sites that review this product. I wish I would have!

The speedometer is a joke..If it ever operates I'll have to buy one.
The instructions wern't clear one bit... It tells you to install the trunk. NO instructions on how to.

DO NOT PURCHASE scooters from this company! If you do, be prepared for a significant amount of repair and upkeep time. Like many others mentioned, the box arrived damaged and some of the scooter metal parts already had rust on them. I purchased this for my daughter and with very modest driving and use, things like the kickstand and speedometer have broken. The outer shell of this scooter is some of the cheapest, most breakable plastic i've ever seen. Takes almost no effort to crack or break it.
If this scooter were priced $300 less, you would be getting what you paid for.
