Product Description:

This book presents the latest intra and extra-oral imaging techniques used in dentistry till date. Because of the increasing complexity of diagnostic tasks and imaging techniques, interaction among paediatric dentists, oral radiologists and general radiologists is becoming more important not only for adequate diagnosis, but also for selection of the proper imaging technique. The technology is now available to run a practice almost paper free. It is theoretically possible to store clinical notes, photographs, radiographs, and study models on disc, and refer or consult online. Research is also continuing into the development of a smart card’, which could carry a patient’s medical and dental notes along with their radiographic images. It is important that advances in technology are accepted and the benefits that they produce utilized in order that clinical practice and patient care continue to improve. We refer to some recent literature describing advanced imaging techniques for specific dental subdisciplines, including caries and periodontal disease diagnosis, endodontics, orthodontics, dental and maxillofacial trauma and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
