The purpose of this book is to provide information and guidance to the practicing dentist interested in including the techniques of minor tooth movement in his scope of treatment capabilities; more as an adjunct to other treatment (i.e. periodontics, crown and bridge), than as an entity in itself. It is difficult to draw a fine line between what is minor tooth movement and what is orthodontics, in the disciplinary sense. The authors realize this, and devote a considerable amount of space to defining and explaining the treatment limitations in tooth movement by dentists other than orthodontists. In short, this book is not intended to be a simplified how-to-to-it orthodontic text. The material is presented in an orderly and logical sequence, chapter by chapter, an is well documented. The illustrations are generally clear and meaningful. The technical procedures included are taken from a wide variety of schools of orthodontic approaches. The authors have apparently selected the treatment procedure for each problem on the basis of its simplicity and potential effectiveness in the hands of the general practitioner.
