The 30th Scientific Congress of the Turkish Society of Periodontology, held in 2000, provided participants with new perspectives on periodontal tissue destruction and its treatment. Topics covered by the international panel of experts include the relationship of such factors as genetics, microbiology, diabetes, herpes viruses, and smoking to periodontal diseases. This collection also presents research on treatment approaches such as periodontal regeneration and surgical perioplastic therapy for recessions.
