If you stick your finger in your mouth (wash your hands first) you can count how many teeth you have. There are animals that have relatively few teeth but the fearsome looking shark has an amazing number of teeth. The "great white shark can have as many as three thousand" teeth you never want to meet up with. Teeth have many different functions and even if you think about your own you could probably think of several. The vampire has teeth that slice through skin to get blood from another animal. This is a book that is not only very informative, but also a lot of fun to read or browse. The illustrations are colorful and very vibrant. There are some cutaway illustrations of hidden teeth and some with an additional skull illustration to emphasize certain points the author is trying to make. For example, the hyena is also shown with a skull to emphasize his powerful jaws and the strength of his back teeth. Children and adults will both enjoy this book. If there was a copy of this in a dentist's office it would be worn out in no time flat!
