All smiles!, August 16, 2013

Just purchased this for my grand-daughter who is cutting her first two teeth (7 months). The pictures are of real babies which is very attractive to babies/toddlers. She liked looking at them. The pages are hard enough for her to grasp and turn -- and, ironically, tough enough for munching on! Her mom and I appreciate the fact that babies from many countries (can't remember how many, ten?) are shown, with the names of the country spelled on the bottom of each page (more learning discussions later on!). Also, great for showing diversity. Others have said that the teeth were hard to find to count, but I did not see it as too much of a challenge for her when she starts counting. And what a fun way to count while also talking about baby teeth! Highly recommend as a multi-purpose book that will benefit the child for many years.

A bit challenging, but a great idea for a counting book!, September 18, 2008

Teeth are universally interesting, but in small pictures, appear so tiny they're difficult to enumerate.
The close attention these appealing photos of diverse babies and children require, however, makes the counting satisfying for preschoolers, especially with a little help from an older sibling or friend.
Each sturdy board page features a different young face showing zero teeth up to ten teeth, then a big boy using his teeth on an ear of corn, and another big boy brushing his.
The photographers caught beguiling expressions adults as well as babies will find captivating. Nice job!
