Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth, and what follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with: a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly. This coming-of-age true story is sure to resonate with anyone who has ever been in middle school, and especially those who have ever had a bit of their own dental drama.

Amazing book, good read, March 21, 2016

I really loved this graphic novel. Raina has to go through having her front teeth knocked out, being teased and left out at school, and all the dentist and orthodontist appointments, which by the way can not be good for her sanity. It was a good story with a good plot with good characters and yeah. It didn't have any bad language and was completely appropriate for kids. It met my expectations perfectly and I can't wait to read the sequel, Sisters.

Great book to read together, March 08, 2016

It's an interesting book that I have wanted to read with my sister. She really likes it too. I bought this for her because growing up my parents couldn't afford to give me money to buy from the Book Fair at school so I felt left out when other kids got the books they wanted. I'm glad I could get this book for her and we could read it together. Can't wait to read more from the author.

There is nothing like Raina Telgemeir, and her book smile, March 06, 2016
By Lori M. Lewis

I absolutely loved the book smile. Raina Telgemeier is a wonderful author and her drawings paint the picture for the book itself perfectly. It's a wonder how she came to be the person, and author she is to day. I already know that she got the inspiration for smile, and sisters from her own past. But what I don't know is where she got her inspiration for drama. I've read all three of the books, and loved them all the same. Back to smile, it's about a young girl raina to be exact, and how she deals with, overcomes, and braves through an injury with her front teeth. She already needed braces so this was just a new way of thinking about it. She goes through a lot with her teeth, friends, and just over all transition though the grades and life. If you do decide to read this book you will not regret it.

Smile is a great book because it shows the problems Raina has and how she fixes them. People bug her but she never gave up and continued on with her life.
