3.0 out of 5 stars.  I am still looking for a good pain review book., August 09, 2011
By Sami
Unfortunetaly. It is not meant for board review. There is a big section on how to take the board and the authors are trying to make it look like it is a board review book. But the book like all the other books, does not even touch on the subjects that come up on the exam. For instance pain physiology is big on the exam like WDR. The book discusses briefly WDRs without discussing the important points.

I found this very helpful when I was studying for my ASA Pain Boards. Read it cover to cover.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Underwhelmed!, April 02, 2008
By Jon (Virginia)
This book was more than disappointing. Very simplistic with very little in depth information. I thought this would be a good start for a resident interested in pursuing a pain fellowship but found the material to be overly simplified and superficial. This is not saying that I am in any way highly intelligent or intellectual. Basically, if you want to practice pain medicine and sit for the boards, I doubt this book will do much for you. If you're a primary care physician who wants to tinker in pain management on the side it may be a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  The best option at this time, July 09, 2007
By Ligament (Chicago)
I think this is a very good pain review book. The chapters are written by respective experts in that field (ie. Racz did the chapter on epidurolysis of adhesions, etc). It is actually good as a reference book as well, as the authors have condensed much of the literature into this slim book. I find it a much better option to Raj's review book, as it is much more up to date, edited better, more concise. There really are not any other options out there for pain review, and so far this is the best.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Fact-checking?, May 03, 2007
By R. Nasrallah
Numerous mistakes that should have been found in the most basic copy review. Page 95 for example - "Biopatch dressing impregnated with Hibiclens" - one branded product impregnated with another branded product?! Biopatch is a delivery system for chlorhexidine gluconate, not Hibiclens, which also uses CHG. Takes away from the credibility of the book.
