5.0 out of 5 stars.  A+, January 14, 2014
By Beverly (Reston, Va.)
I am a new acupuncture student with no background in Oriental Medicine or Acupuncture. This training CD is helping me with the daunting memorization of hundreds of acupuncture points, locations, and identification. It would be impossible for me to pass my classes without this resource. It allows me to test myself and gives me great graphic information, information about the points, and images that clearly show location and relationships to other points and anatomical landmarks. The interactive feature helps me learn so much better than textbooks. I wish I had gotten it sooner - so worth every cent! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Claudia Focks MD!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not as advertised - very disappointed, January 19, 2010
By Marilee (Indianapolis, IN United States)
If you only want to learn point locations, this is very good at that. But the needling practice only lets you choose the needle direction. No description of needling technique, angles, depth of insertion or cautions. A group of needles are illustrated in a circle, angled at different directions. Easy to choose from, but using one requires a drag-and-drop placement so precise that it's very difficult to get the question right if you are even a hair-breadth away from the point. Remember, these are 2-dimensional photos, not 3-D or a real person. When you make an error, you have the option of asking for a hint. The "hint" in the needling practice describes the location of the point-- nothing about the needling. (This same hint is used in the point locations practice.)

The product description on Amazon says you can learn "which points should be used for which treatments". However, the program doesn't include functions or indications for any of the points, so how can you possibly learn anything about treatments? If I only wanted to learn points locations and nothing more, then this would be an okay program. In all fairness, it does provide good interactive practice for learning the locations, and the enclosed insert that comes with the CD says nothing about treatments. This program does less than what is advertised. I would not have spent $55 for it. In fact, I wouldn't have bought it. Would always prefer to give a positive review, but cannot in this case.
