Complications in Endodontic Surgery: Prevention, Identification and Management presents up-to-date recommendations for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of complications in endodontic surgical procedures, based on the best available scientific evidence. Common risks such as wound healing impairment, infection and bleeding are discussed and specific complications related to endodontic surgery, such as maxillary sinus involvement and damage to adjacent neurovascular structures, are reviewed. For each step of endodontic surgical procedures, surgical goals and possible outcomes are reviewed. Preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative risk factors for complications are identified and treatment options presented. Helpful decision-making algorithms, tables and flow charts complement the reader-friendly text. Author Information Igor Tsesis received his DMD degree from Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute, Russia, in 1990 and in 2003 graduated cum laude from the Post-Graduate Endodontic Program at the Dental School of Tel Aviv University, Israel. He currently serves as Director of Graduate Endodontics in Tel Aviv University. Dr. Tsesis is a member of the Scientific Council of the Israeli Dental Association and a past-president of the Israeli Endodontic Society and He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics and also a member of the International Editorial Board of the journal Italian Oral Surgery. His research is in the area of diagnosis and treatment of complications following root canal therapy and endodontic surgery.  A good addition to my endodontic library., November 23, 2014

Complications in Endodontic Surgery (Tsesis) is a text that targets a specific problem area for endodontic surgery, that is the complications we may encounter relating to the surgical procedure, whether patient-related or operator-related. It is not a "how to" book regarding endodontic surgery. We have several good texts on the market already that meet those needs (Arens and Torabinejad; Kim and Rubinstein; Moreno). This book deals with problems that arise that perhaps we could have anticipated or avoided, either in our original treatment plan decision-making or during the procedure itself.
Some chapters are very specific in identifying issues and making recommendations, and these are the chapters that are treatment and technique oriented. A few of the earlier chapters are more general in nature in that they describe diagnostic and treatment planning decision-making. In these chapters the emphasis is error avoidance in the initial patient evaluation and diagnosis.
I do enough surgery in my endodontic practice that this book fills a valuable niche. I think it is a good addition for any endodontist performing surgery that already has a a "how to" book, but is interested in a text that is perhaps the "next step" after that. It is a text that accompanies, but does not replace, the procedural texts. It is also not so overwhelming in size that it would only be used as a reference text. You can actually sit down and read the text cover to cover is a reasonable time framework.

Very disappointing book ! Never addresses the stated objectives. This book is just a rehash of dated literature and offers no clinical solutions to the challenges of apical surgery. It does not present any particularly challenging cases.
Don't buy this book !
