Bought used, couldn't be happier., December 01, 2016

If you've found this lens then you probably already know why you need it. Extremely sharp. Great color. Decent macro. Bought this lens used and couldn't be happier. Shipping was quick. Item well packaged. In excellent condition. I do recommend buyers placing this on their newer DSLRs do some research on how to set up this lens so it will work on your camera, it really isn't very difficult. Personally, I am a big fan of recycling and am very happy this D model lens has a new home where it will be loved and used often.

Great lens, but older copies seem to be better than new ones, November 22, 2016

I have a used copy of this lens, about 10 years old judging from the box, and it works great--very sharp across an entire FF image at f 8, no distortion. The lens has some bits of dust in it and some marks on the glass, so I decided to shell out the cash and upgrade to a new copy--perhaps it would be even sharper than the one I have. I was surprised to find that 2 new copies of the lens were actually softer in the corners than the used one I have. I tested them repeatedly with a D810 and got the same results. So my advice would be to look for a nice, mint used copy of this lens rather than a new one--Nikon seems to have slacked off a bit with this particular model in recent years.
