By trying to explain the materials with a fictional biochemical amusement park called "Biochemistryland," the author actually it more confusing more me. I would have preferred it if the author went straight to the point instead of using convoluted analogies, for example, "Sphingo's Curio Shoppe" when he described the sphingolipids.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Too simplistic, May 21, 2017
By Ray Clark
Sorry to say I don't think you could pass a high school biochem exam with this book. "Clinical" forget it. This text erred on the side of both ridiculous and simplistic.

Obviously Clinical Biochemistry isn't one of my strongest subjects to begin with which is why I got this book, that being said it didn't help much at all. I see what the author is trying to achieve by protraying biochemistryland as some sort of amusement park, but it just confused me more. I think in the end it depends on what kind of learner you are, if you're the type of person that requires real life applications and examples in order to understand something this isn't for you. If you're someone who can learn by making up crazy stories to create triggers (nothing wrong with that!) then you may benefit from this.
