As a med student, this book gave me a strong foundation. It can be used as a lecture substitute even. Concise, easy to read, pretty good figures. Good list of key diseases/disorders. My final grade in Immunology course was 99%, mainly using this book as daily reference.

Upgrading from 3rd ed. to 5th ed. Gave my copy to a friend undergoing chemo, to help understand his treatment better. It was an amazing, dense, thorough read. Thankfully, it being a pleasure read and not a course, I could take it at my pace, < a page a day.
I have a really sick son, and this book has aided in allowing me to speak to his specialists in their language, and at their level.
