Marketing The Million Dollar Practice defines the new paradigm of creating rapid growth and higher profits by generating loyal new patients for any professional practice. Dr Bill Williams, a dentist in Suwanee, GA, reveals 27 steps to follow to grow a practice 1/2 million dollars a year. Starting over with no patients, he grew from zero to $5.8 million in 10 years. Every step can be duplicated, no matter what type of professional practice employs them; they are universal truths, not just unique-to-dentistry concepts. Endorsements by dental luminaries such as Dr Mike Abernathy of Summit Practice Solutions, Dr Bruce Baird of The Productive Dentist Academy, Dr Chris Kammer of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr Bill Blatchford of Blatchford Solutions, and Gary Takacs, founder of Takacs Learning Center all point to one common recommendation: “This book is a must get, must read and must apply book if you want a thriving professional practice in today’s economic climate”. Marketing The Million Dollar Practice is not just book of how to’s on marketing. Dr Williams takes you through his personal journey that led him to make the Big Decision to start over. He gives the reader the tools to do a mental makeover that allows a complete re-framing of what is important in life and how to negotiate that often frightening tightrope stretched between those canyon walls called failure and success. Do you need to rearrange your approach to marketing , tweak an already successful practice, or make a brand new start and create the practice of your dreams? This book is full of ideas; it can help any service business. Physicians, chiropractors, veterinarians, audiologists, spas and salons could all benefit from applying these new marketing methods. If you've ever heard of Guerrilla Marketing and want to see how it’s implemented, you will want to read this book. Dr Williams is the only dentist who is a Certified Trainer in Guerrilla Marketing by Guerrilla Marketing’s founder, Jay Conrad Levinson. This book includes 10 Guerrilla Marketing tactics for startup practices and his Seven Mountain Marketing Strategy. The centerpiece of Dr Williams’ success is the New Patient Experience ( 93% case acceptance success). To understand how it is possible to average over $10,000 per day in production, day in and day out, as an individual practitioner, it is essential to understand the psychology of sales and marketing and why people make the decisions they do. If you are a person who wants to find answers through prayer, you will want to see how Dr. Williams and his wife, Sheila, received The Answer. Follow their spiritual journey into Africa and back. Climb the Seven Mountains of Marketing, Dr Williams own prescription for practice growth. See the view of how to run a successful business from 10,000 feet. Running a $5 million practice is not about doing all the work yourself. Dr Williams identifies the steps he took so that he could travel, take continuing education courses, do dental missions and family vacations. Learn the value of mentors and how to position yourself as a mentor to others. Finally, Dr Williams describes the Perfect Dental Storm; when it all came together and how you can also achieve a similar result. Years of being an understudy paid handsome dividends. The road to success is paved with stones collected over a lifetime of experiences. Dr Williams offers readers to take and use stones he has collected over four decades of practice. All of this would never have been possible without the inspiration and guidance of Dr Williams’ main mentor, Dr Omer Reed of Phoenix, AZ. Dr Reed opens this book with his Forward that provides contextual congruity, defines how it all came to be and why this book is important. Reed says that “When the paradigm shifts, everyone starts at the beginning” and in the case of this generation, “Marketing has come a long way. The paradigm has shifted!” Author Information Dr. Bill Williams is a highly acclaimed practicing dentist and an expert in dental marketing and management. Really great book. Full of content, December 16, 2015

Really great book. Full of content. I've read quite a few practice management books that ultimately were just fluff and a sales pitch for the consultant. This is useful. Not just concepts, but actual rubber meets the road advice. I would prefer digital or Kindle and almost didn't purchase simply because of that, but I'm glad I did. I don't want a physical book, but I wont discount the author for my preferences. 5 of 5.

Horrible editing, November 25, 2015
By M L

So far, not good. I never write reviews but the editing in this book (2013 version) is atrocious. There are errors on almost every page! $600,00 is not a number. Sentences that should end with a question mark do not. A space before a comma. Phrases like "...every day while you you're there or not". Other sentences seem to simply use incorrect versions of very common phrases, like saying "more busy" instead of properly using the term "busier". What?
Maybe there's a new version of this book out there and I got an original or something but the editing is so bad that it's hard to take seriously. I'm about 10 pages in and will update the review when I finish the book. So far it seems like it was put together in a hurry and with a lot of laziness. Yikes!

UPDATE: Powerful and applicable insight, book itself lacked refinement of professional publication, November 25, 2015

3/5 stars
UPDATE:
As promised, I continued onward and completed the book this evening. All I can say is "wow"! My first review was written when I was about 15 pages into the book. There were sentences that had obviously been visited by the author multiple times and made no sense whatsoever. Combine that with the numerous typographical problems and it was truly a struggle to get through the first part of this book. Around page 60, things started to pick up steam. Overall, the errors continued at the same rate. But the content finally started to deliver.
GOOD: I loved all the advice that was given in the book. It's obvious from the book (and ironically, from the author's comment on my previous review!) that he takes his work seriously and (very) personally. I came to believe and trust what he was saying by the end of the book and this publication will definitely be a reference for me in the future. He had a genuine tone in the book that was quite refreshing.
I can tell what Dr. Williams was trying to do with this book. He was creating a publication that was realistic and had actual solid points of advice! Too many books like this are just another sales arm for that particular system or person. This book is not just a bunch of BS "you can do it" crap. He literally gives his opinion on the weight of the paper to use for your office brochure.
The chapter on dental missions was very compelling and it helped remind me why I got into dentistry in the first place. As a fellow believer, I applaud the fact that he didn't hide this aspect of his life but recognized and celebrated the fact that this is a hugely important part of who he is as a person. Bravo!! If you want tips and concepts to help your practice grow, this book is full of them. *5/5 for content
BAD: The biggest problem with the actual book is that his casual style of writing (a sort of "stream of consciousness" approach) left so many parts of the book feeling unpolished. The text reads like a first draft. Reading the book made me feel like Dr. Williams punched out the book on his laptop, sent it to some colleagues to get some reviews, and then put it up for sale.
This book has to have more errors in one chapter than any book I've read to date (on any subject). I frequently had to stop and reread certain lines to try to understand what was being said. There are still multiple lines in this book that I'm at a complete and total loss as to what they mean. This material is screaming for a real final version to do it justice! *1/5 for editing and readability
I've abused the subject enough with this review, my first review, and subsequent comment rebuttal to the author, so I won't bring up any more specific issues the book had in terms of editing. I will, however, mention one thing that struck me within the text:
(Page 73-74)
"I am continually surprised at the number of dentists who want to save $500 to $1000 on their marketing budget by doing it themselves. They will spend 10 to 20 hours or longer, do a poor-to-middling job that looks exactly as amateurish as it can be when they could have worked one day in the dental practice and earned three times the money to purchase professional results. I have been guilty of that one, believe me."
This shocked me. I could barely believe what I had just read. These were quite literally some of the same thoughts I was having up to that point about the book itself! Why did Dr. Williams go to all this trouble to write this book and not spend the money to finish it off properly? We are all human and he is obviously passionate about his work but I wish more care had been taken to deliver a final product.
Dr. Williams,
Thank you for this book. The content was excellent. Sit down sometime and slowly read the book out loud to yourself. You'll soon discover that writing a book "the way you speak" doesn't work. The spoken word and the written word are not the same. We don't have commas in our speech and we can't delete and rewrite the words we say.
Don't forget that if you write a book you are stepping into the role of an author. Don't apologize to your audience for not hiring the right editor, this is your book. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "if you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat out". In this case I would say that if you can't find the right editor, you shouldn't print an unfinished book. If you write a book, write it well! If we misrepresent who we are in dentistry, we get sued. If you do it on Amazon, you just get bad reviews. You were on the edge of something great but the book I have in my hands right now feels unfinished. This is not your finest work and I have a feeling, based on the tone of your comment on my first review, that you knew that when it went to print. You have proven in the book itself that you can do unbelievable things if you set your mind to it.
This book was good... make the next one great.
If you ever go through the process of getting this work edited and updated, I would love a new copy. Best of luck in all you do!

Easy to implement marketing ideas, September 10, 2015
By Trey Kaliher

Marketing the Million Dollar Practice was a great read. Dr. Williams did an excellent job combining marketing ideas and practice tips to boost your production. Not only are his ideas unique, but implementation can be done quickly with predictable results. It is rare to find a successful dentist that shares his practice ideas and philosophy while he is still in practice. Just reading the book alone will inspire you to interact differently with your patients. We have already changed our new patient paperwork and have four new marketing ventures initiated. This book really reminded me of the importance of keeping quality, comfort, and patient collaboration at the top of your practice philosophies. Both large and small practices will benefit from the knowledge he exposes throughout the book. I am thankful to be in a profession where we have great leaders and mentors that share their wealth of knowledge. Thanks Dr. Williams

Still reading and taking a step at a time. Can give you great ideas to create the image you want to project to the public. This in turn naturally leads to an increase in new patients and patient referrals. Have seen results and I'm only about half way through the book.
