This is a superb book, easy to follow, clearly written, and contains a wealth of valuable information. The chapters are well organized and flow seamlessly. I definitely recommend it. It saves you countless hours trying to scour the web trying to find all the information that Kurhana brings together. Two-thumbs up!!

Excellent, robust guide., April 30, 2011

I received this guide on first publication directly from SDN, just to explain my lack of "verified purchase" status on the product.
Unfortunately for myself, I received this guide a bit late in the game, though I am still a pre-dental student. But with that in mind, I can say for absolutely certain that this guide would have help me tremendously in the entire process. It's also helpful that the author covers information related to the DAT, something that isn't "analyzed" in very much detail even in the various review guides available.
Because of where I'm at in the process, what I found the most useful was the monstrous amount of information given regarding the interview portion itself, with an incredible plethora of mock Q&A that no one should do without. I can also say that the author knows his stuff and has dealt first hand with years and years worth of pre-dental applicants via the Student Doctor Network, an incomparable environ for such experience and research.
A very very minor detail I believe was overlooked in the description of the MAJOR pre-requisite courses (bio, chem, etc), which was that the typical year of college physics required was not mentioned, which I believe is required by nearly every US dental school.

Everything you need to completely prepare for dental school, April 20, 2011

This is a great book. I am getting ready to apply for dental school right now and I thought I had thought of everything and even gone the extra mile, but I was wrong. This gave me extremely useful information, all in one spot. Usually you have to search all over the internet to find all the information that this book has. I wish I had it sooner. It would have saved me many hours that I could have used doing better things, like studying for the DAT.
Some examples of helpful information I found really helpful:
1. Tips for getting ready for an interview and questions you should have answers for 2. Examples of personal statement and tips for writing your own 3. Everything you need to fill out your AADSAS application, with phone numbers and all 4. All about the DAT one should know and how to prepare. (topics tested so you don't study things that are not tested on the DAT)
At the end of the day, this was a fantastic resource that saved me a lot of work and gave me some great ideas. Sure, most of the information you can find easily on the internet, but for the little money to get it all in one spot? I say it's worth it.

A great introduction to the admissions process, April 19, 2011

After having gone through the admissions process myself, and then reading this guide, I have to say that most of the information provided is quite typical and is easily accessible online for free. That said, the information it provides in one central location, and its presentation in a logical and easy to read order gives some value to the book, especially for those just starting out and have no clue as to where to start in terms of the application process. It's FAQ section is probably the only unique section that I have seen in other similar materials that gives this book the edge. Otherwise, the topics it covers from you as an applicant all the way to post-admissions facts are all readily available online or are plain common sense. I would only recommend this to those seeking help from the very beginning or want to see/hear another person's aspect on applying and choosing a dental school, but if you already know what you're doing, or can Google for your answers, then this book will not be for you.

Good overview of the dental school process and an easy read, April 17, 2011

This book is a great start if you are new to the dental school process. It covers everything, but not in extreme detail. So it is an easy read to familiarize yourself with the process of choosing dental school, to taking the DATs, applying and what to do once you get in. There are also pages with organizational charts to help you keep track of everything.
