At Ease, June 12, 2009

I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed. Before reading this book by Dr. Grippo, I was very nervous to have the procedure. I didn't know what to expect as I had never visited a Maxillofacial Surgen before. However after reading his book, I knew exactly what was going to happen. Thanks Dr. Grippo for putting me at ease before the procedure! Anyone who needs to visit a Maxillofacial Surgen should read this book first!

Taking the fear out of the unknown, December 29, 2008
By J. Mcnamara

My 16 yr old daughter had to have her wisdom teeth pulled. She was terrified and it was a daily point of contention between us. I thought if I could find some information for her to read, something that would explain what was going to happen, she might not be so fearful. I searched the internet for some sort of guide or informational article that would easily explain what she would be going through. What I had found was either too technical or was not on point. I finally found this book and my prayers were answered! I ordered it immediatly and gave it to my daughter. After both of us reading this book she was no longer afraid of her impending procedure and I had a better understanding of the fear she was feeling. I can't say after reading the book, she looked forward to the appointment but she was definetly more positive and accepting about what was going to happen. The book was easy to understand, entertaining and not condescending. So many people have a fear of both the dentist and oral surgeons, which often is based on a lack of understanding what is going to happen during thier procedure. This book educates a patient in a manner so that there are no surprises and realistic expectations are set. Any parent with a child needing any kind of oral surgery will benefit from having thier child read this book. I can not recommend it enough!

A great guide for children facing oral surgery, December 18, 2008
By Harold T. Swartz (Florida)

As the title suggests, this book was written for young people who must deal with oral surgery and are afraid of the unknown process. Dr. Grippo skillfully explains through eight short stories, the procedures that are necessary from a single tooth extraction to the most complex challenges facing a young patient.
The stories are neither condescending, nor so technical that a young person can't understand what he or she can expect.
If I were a dentist, I'd want to be able to provide such a book to my young patients when oral surgery was in the immediate future.
If I were a parent with a child facing oral surgery, I'd like to have this book to take away the fear of the unknown.
