Important Secrets/Rules with Terrific Imagery, August 16, 2016
By Michael Polen

This book is an executive summary/roadmap to protecting your teeth and understanding the inherent threats to them. I enjoyed the book – it was interesting and surprisingly informative, yet light-hearted and concise. I sure wish I had the imagery and lessons provided in this book embedded in my mind years ago, but today’s a good day to start too!

Dr. Grellner’s “Eight Secrets About Teeth…” is a pithy primer on tooth topics rarely discussed until trouble is at hand. The information provided is appropriate to all ages but a discussion of each secret could go a long way to benefit the reader, especially if presented in grade school and junior high. It would not hurt if Mom and Dad read it too. Each secret is revealed in a concise presentation that is easy to understand and can be grasped one at a time. The read is not a lecture in flossing. In fact I think flossing was only mentioned once in passing. I found it informative and recommend a copy in every dental waiting area.

Do yourself a favor and read it, and get one for your parents, August 07, 2016

I originally purchased this book for my parents but enjoyed reading it first. Each chapter discusses a different secret you can use throughout a lifetime, from annoying cavities to gum pain to health issues later in life that can impact getting dental care. I like that the chapters are short, concise and to the point. The author describes why some people get many cavities and others none or very few – happy that I am in this category. I do eat sweats but only once a day – so I guess the sugar is not hanging around all day causing cavities. My wisdom teeth were remove way too late – in my 40’s with a very hard recovery. My teenagers will be seeing an Oral Surgeon before heading back to school this year. I may keep this book and buy another one for my parents. Do yourself a favor and read it, and get one for your parents
