Repeating braces as an adult it alot more difficult than I anticipated. And, choosing the right orthodonitist for me and my children is very important. So Dr. Burleson's new book answers so many questions I never knew I had. I have referred to it many times! It is very well written and gets to the point right away. This is an excellent book for parents/guardians of kids. A lot of the information given in this book are things parents don't think about/consider when when proceeding with orthodontic care. It answers many questions from how your child should brush with braces, to financial tips.

So empowering!, September 17, 2012

Having had braces at an early age, I didn't think that I would be left with many questions. With two children now in braces and all of the advancements in technology and cutting edge orthodontic techniques, I had tons of questions. This book was so wonderful. I was left feeling well informed about the decision to start orthodontic treatment on my youngest son, as well as my teenager. I always looked at orthodontic treatment from a cosmetic "fix-it" perspective, but never from a preventative perspective. This was an easy read and I higly recommend it for parents and children who are about to start orthodontic care, already started or just thinking about it. Knowledge is power and this book is certainly empowering!

An Essential Read for Anyone Considering Orthodontic Treatment, September 17, 2012

This was a wonderful read, and as a parent of two children who will most likely have to have orthodontic treatment, I feel like a more empowered advocate for them as we approach their first ortho appointments.
The explanations as to why orthodontic consultation and possible treatment were very insightful and really gave me a good understanding as to the importance of this treatment type, as well as the consequences of not visiting with an orthodontist.
The book gave wonderful guidance on when to make the first consultation appointment, and what to expect at each appointment.
I loved having clear explanations from an orthodontist on the different treatment options, from traditional braces to the latest technologies that do not require any braces at all.
Dr. Burleson also gave great tips on financing orthodontic treatments; something that almost every parent has to worry about.
All in all, a wonderful read for any parent or individual researching orthodontic care. I highly recommend this book!
