Simple and quick, April 13, 2016

At 69 pages this is more of a pamphlet than a book. But it is a quick, consice education; just what I wanted Some of it reads like a sales pitch, but that is ok.

In the words of Lee Corso, "Not so fast!", May 10, 2015

Admittedly, there is good information here, but as a practicing orthodontist for nearly 30 years and a clinical professor at THE Ohio State University, I think I can recognize an agenda when I see one. And there is an agenda here. First of all, what does being a physician (actually a dual degree oral surgeon, but details, details...) have to do with being an orthodontist? Absolutely nothing, except that you as a lay person will be impressed. The bigger agenda here is that Dr. Graham is a paid spokesperson for the Ormco Corporation, the manufacturer of the Damon System, which is (at least for some) the big deal in orthodontics right now. It's nothing really new, or even that innovative, but Ormco has spent many millions marketing to the public and the orthodontic profession that their (ridiculously expensive) bracket (brace) system is better than anything out there. It's a fad, and I've seen many come and go. My prediction is that this one will be gone in 5-10 years when everyone figures out that it's basically a gimmick, and that it has serious drawbacks. So read the book, but take the subtle suggestion that the Damon system is superior ("it's currently the only way that I would treat my family"), with a grain of salt. After all, he's paid to say that... Incidentally, I'd bet a good amount of money that the other orthodontists who rate the book with 5 stars are Damonites too... They all drink the same Kool-Aid!

He does it again! Another "something" spectacular by Dr. John Graham. He has provided a wealth of clarification in an orthodontic world of confusion. He has written this in a way of making all the topics easy to understand- no matter if you are a parent, patient, future patient, doctor or clinician. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone!

After reading this book I am going to recommend to all my friends that they do the same. It seems that everyone who has ever had orthodontic work done starts by getting teeth pulled. Dr Graham talks about the negative affects that creates and much, much more. It's a short read, but something every parent should know. That you Dr. Graham for taking the time to write this for us.

John Graham has done it again! I have never had a dull moment with him. He is full of energy when he is teaching others and also on a personal level. I highly recommend this great read to any of my patients that have questions about orthodontics in today's world. It gives them a basic knowledge in the advances in orthodontics. I am proud to call Dr. Graham a colleague and friend.
