My gums have been bleeding but I was affraid to even look at the book when a friend told me about it, let alone buy it. What a plesant surprise. I'm one of those really bad dental patients, fortunately this book is easy-to-read and non-threatening and tells everything I needed ( and did not know I needed) to make an important decision. Yesterday, I went to the gum specialist and the visit was just like Dr Sydney described in his book. A complete exam of my mouth and gums-and no pain. I start treatment tomorrow. This book has really made a difference, so will flossing and brushing correctly

Dr. Sydney's book accurately and wonderfully explains periodontal (gum) disease in the easy-to-understand language that will greatly help any would be or current patients. With about 80 revealing illustrations, Dr. Sydney takes us from gum disease in ancient times to today's modern science-based profession with explanations of everything from diagnosis and examination to treatment options and how to determine the chances of saving your teeth. The chapter on what to expect when you visit a gum specialist encourages patient confidence and will calm any apprehensions. It's no wonder this book has received so many accolades from the world's top dental journals. If you want to really separate fact from fiction about gum disease, I highly recommend Dr. Sydney's guide to gum disease and dental implants.
