Product Description:

Human Osteology is designed for students and professionals who wish to advance their osteological skills. It will assist in accurately identifying human skeletal remains, however isolated and fragmentary. These remains can then be used to deduce information about the original lives of the deceased individuals. Human Osteology will be the essential text for courses on the human skeleton as well as a basic reference and field manual for professional osteologists and anatomists, forensic scientists, paleontologists and archaeologists.
  • Extensively illustrated with more than 500 exceptional photographs and drawings specifically designed to show a maximum amount of anatomical information
  • All skeletal parts are shown life-size for ease of study and use
  • Emphasizes the correct and positive identification of human bones and teeth, which is fundamental in paleontology, archaeology, and forensic science
  • Presents and emphasizes the basics while also providing access to the whole range of modern science involving the skeleton
  • Based on fifteen years of teaching human osteology

When I received the book, it was in brand new condition. However, there was some defect and the binding was starting to come apart the first day. It has not affected my ability to use the book, but I worry it will come apart in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great research guide, November 17, 2015
By Sarah Ginter
This book was exactly what I needed for a research project. The book contains clear pictures and extensive descriptions of each bone and even many anomalies that may occur. Will be a book I come back to many times in my career, I'm sure.

Excellent osteology reference book with wonderful photographs (essential when studying bone, as textual descriptions can be difficult to parse), and lots of information on everything from features and siding to sex determination.
