Excellent book, January 25, 2011

This book is a very comprehensive review of all types of assessment necessary for the diagnosis of eating disorders. It provides information for quantitative (standardised) and qualitative (interview) evaluation and does not just give a review but also useful guidelines of clinical skills. Useful for both researchers and clinical practitioners, it also gives a lot of precious information for other professionals that deal with eating disorders, such as nutritional and medical assessment, proving that these disorders need the collaboration of many experts. I particularly liked that the authors share the list of symptoms that need to be evaluated during an interview and the EDQ, a questionnaire that is very useful for evaluation purposes. Generally this is a very well written book that covers the topic really thoroughly and can be very handy for every professional involved in the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders.

This book has been helpful to me in selecting instruments for research, and would also be useful for clinical work. The authors are well-known and respected in their field.
