Product Description:

This book on orofacial pain is a clinical text using an evidence-based approach to the assessment and management of dental and orofacial pain in an interactive format using a biopsychosocial model of management. Orofacial pain falls between dentistry and medicine in that it requires input from both these broad specialities. The book has been written by a multi-disciplinary team, all of whom are active clinicians and all but one have got higher research degrees in the field of pain. The first part of the book provides generic information for management of pain and orofacial pain in particular. The subsequent chapters deal with specific orofacial conditions and give evidence-based management strategies.

Each chapter has clearly stated objectives and a summary of the contents at the end. There are multiple tables called Key Facts which enable the reader to quickly assimilate the key data. For the expert there is in-depth discussion and further tables listing the evidence for the clinical features and management of conditions. Each chapter also has a selection of case studies based on clinical material seen by the authors which enables the reader to assess their own skills as the answers are provided at the end of each chapter. All the chapters incorporate the latest research findings from a very wide range of journals. All the references are graded and each chapter also has a section on further reading material.
