Product Description:

General pathologists may occasionally need to perform forensic pathology, yet the purposes and goals of the forensic autopsy are quite different than those of a general autopsy. Procedures commonly used in hospital autopsies are entirely inadequate for medicolegal situations. An Atlas of Forensic Pathology is a breakthrough guide to the forensic autopsy, providing clear, precise text with a wealth of images. It provides the most current information on unnatural deaths and forensic pathologic investigation.

An Atlas Of Forensic Pathology addresses all major fatality categories, including sharp and blunt force trauma, firearms, fire, electricity, automobile crashes, drugs, and alcohol. Chapters also discuss the special considerations for pediatric deaths, and provide a chronological guide to decomposition. Both injuries and investigative sites are extensively illustrated with more than 850 full-color images, including photographs, microphotographs, x-rays, and CAT scans.

Particularly helpful for the general pathologist who is occasionally involved in forensics, An Atlas Of Forensic Pathology is also of interest to coroners, medical examiners, and forensic pathologists. This is the most current and comprehensive guide to forensic science available anywhere.

The pictures are wonderful and the captions along with them. It is technical and precise. No nonsense can to the point aspects that will help in my profession as a forensic medical examiner.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  almost perfect atlas, April 27, 2007
By irine (ca, usa)
I bought this atlas for my friend Pathologist, who does also Histology work.I was expecting more microphotographs in this atlas. I found atlas of Histopathology of more use than this Atlas. I would say this book is overpriced for what it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  An Altas of Foensic Pathology, April 02, 2000
By S Cassell (Baltimore Md)
I have been in this field for 18 years and found this book to be very informative. I was greatly impressed at the explainations of the different types of trauma. I would highly recommend this book as reference book to homocide investigators, F.I. and any law enforcement personelle working this area.
